After these two accidents the SVAZARh1 Central Gliding School in Vrchlabi made experimental water landing with a VT-125 glider for experience and established a procedure for such landings. The article then contains instructions for ditching a glider, but it also points out that such landing should take place in an extreme emergency only. There are 3 photos. Abstract: The phagooytic activity of laucocytes (PAL) of 5 rabbits was studied in vitro in relation to staphylococcus aurous. In one rabbit the thy- roid gland was removed. The others received for a period of one month 0.1 g of thyroxin daily. PAL was depressed in both acute hyper - and hypo- thyroidism. The administration of th3mucrine in- creased PAL.--From the author's summary. Card 1/1 Aeldr.veiw, nto of S.1ovak zurrt,~cnr, iii u.(I rcalm Of rtMc; 1 b1cod circulation. 7'rudy Inst. ek3t.. i klin. In order to produce the hardness of built-up metal and of the transition zone close to that of the base metal at a satisfactory toughness, castings must be sub- jected after welding to tempering at 7400C, with 4 hour holding in the furnace, 1+ hours at 6600C, and air cooling. 14.
