Differential equations for the displacement and stress functions are derived and the correspond- ing boundary conditions are established, Particular solutlons of the differential equations are obtained. ORG: none TITLE: On a method of approximating a random vector function SOURCE: Kibernetika, no. 5, 1966, 73-74 TOPIC TAGS: vector function, mathematic matrix, approximation, automatic control design ABSTRACT: The proposed method makes it possible to construct self-adaptive and learnilg automatic control systems by means of the inverse Jacobian technique in cases where the re- lations linking the input and output parameters of a system are unknown. The inverse Jacoblan technique reduces to finding the control actions exerted on the input of the system according to the discrepancies at the system's output, on utilizing the reciprocal matrix of partial deriva- tives. Thus the problem Is that of finding this matrix according to the available statistics -- the information on the system. Real statistics, which is used to find the inverse Jacobian at some point of the region, contains a substantial variation in the parameters of the system and hence also in the partial derivatives. The unknown relations are approximated by a Taylor se- UDC: 62.501 Card 1/4 AP6035586 ries in a region adjoining the point Y, =~(%), where y 0 is the vector of output quantities and xO is the vector of input quantities: (4), (xQ) /got F;rol Vol X02 (DA (xO) ID (x,) (XQ)) Yl 01 (XO I -'XO21 "' tXC,)+ (X, X.) + + 1601 N (X. In general, three elastic waves (two transverse, one longitudinal) with different velocities can be propagated in any dirfiction. Directions where two of these phase velocities coincide can be called acoustic axes. The-positions of the acoustic axes, where they do not coincide 'with the crystallographic symmetry axes, are of interest. All symmetries but triclinic are considered here. In the monoclinic system there may be 16 a3ces although this number is probably never realized. The orthorhombic system may have up to III but an analysis given by K,S.Aleksandrov and T.V.Ryzhava (Kristallografiya, v.6, 1961, 289) shows that celestkne and a-U have 10, topaz and iodic acid 6, and staurolite 2. Trigonal crystals have 10 or 4 and tetragonal 9, 5 or 1. Tetragonal crystals with only one axis have so far not been Card 1/2 Acoustic axes in crystals S/070/62/007/005/004/014 E132/E46o encountered. In the trigonal case all axes lie in the planes of symmetry or in the Planes normal to the axes of symmetry or in Plancs e(I'livalent to them as regards elastic properties. In the tetragonal c'ase, besides the above, axes may lie in planes normal to the axis of highast order. The directions of the acoustic axes in hexagonal crystals form a cone which may be expanded into a Plane or contracted to a symmetry axis. In the cubic case the acoustic axes coincide with the axes of the 3rd and 4th order and there are therefore 7 in all. Acknowledgments are expressed to Professor P.I.Fedorovich. The light waves have different frequenciesp and are normally incident. Expressions are given for the conversion coefficient, for the transmission coefficients of the ordinary and extraordinary components of the incident waves, and for the dependence of a function proportional to the conversion coefficient on the divergence of the beam and on the thiclmess of the crystal. A table of the results shows that the trans- formation coefficient for the emission at the difference frequency Is smaller than for the emission at the nun frequency. The main reason is that the intensity of the transformed radiation is proportional to the square of the freq=ncy. Orig. art. has: 1 figure, 14 formulas, and 1 table. However, it has a low ef- ficiency, and is fit in practical use for lov- quantity production only. The reason for this is the low permiesible linear velocity of the steam in the-free cross section. At a vapor velocity of about 0.5 m/sec, the liquid may remain on the sta- tionary cones, thus interfering vith the operation of the column.
