T., Shatalov, M. 1. _~~ay rLLt di riQ v11 TITLE: Improving the transformer steel melting techniques PERIODICAL: Metallurg, no. 1, 1963, 13 - 14 TMT: Prev.1ous transformer 3teel melting techniques were based on the combined cxidizihg of carbon with iron ore and oxygen, and diffusion deoxidation of the metal with ferr:)silicon adiixtUrc. The cold rolled nteal produced by this technique showed insatisfact:)ry magnetic properties. During 1959 and 1960 some improvements were made at tha 191K including the tise of an increased amount of iron ore for oxidation of Cr, Mg and P; rcd~tction of the carbon artu manganese content; decreased ox1dation, of' -the metal during melting, more complete.deoxi7 dation of the steel du:~ing the reduction period. A more accurate corrolation,of iron-ore and admixturei; in the me-~allic portion of the charge, increased slag amount, strict observa,.*Aory of temperature conditionn during okligen blast, and an inoreased amount of si:Jco-calcium, were the improvements achieved. On the basis Card 1/2 3/1-30/63/000/001/001/003 improving the transformer steel melting teckmiques, AOo6/AlOl oj* ' the new techniques transformer steel war, rielted In a high capacity electric furnace iri 1961. TO TedU(~C metals oxidation at the beginning of the oxidation period, I(Y~ cazit iron was added'tl~ the charge; thq optimum metal temperatures were established at the end of oxygen blast (1,590 - i,6200C) and in the ladle (1,570 - 1,5900C). The cont,nt'o7f ferric oxide in the sLag decreased at the erld of' meltink; to 28 - 33;,~ arid at thf~ end of the oxidation period to 38 - 111,u. -Lhe cf%rl)on cor.tent after oxygen *i)la,,,.L exce~-,ded 0.03,i) in ft~' of heats, and the manga- riese contc-rit was riot below 0.05 - 0.06,t". As a result the magnetic prcperties of 0.35 mm thick sheets were improved. There 11; 1 table. The exolanation for the Influence of oxygen and the pfl-value of the medium upon the radiochemical fomation and the decay of hydrogen peroxide is given. In additiong the conditions on which an oxygen molecule can "activate" itself by receiving an electron frow the non-stable product of reaioly,is is formulatod more in deteil. Several general rules which apparently detemine the chexge-transitiona in the radiolysis and in the self-oxidation rea(stion, are forauxlatea. The ocaolu3ions drawn are also used for the purpose of interpreting the ability of halide ions H 202 to stabilize them- Card 1/2 selves, as well as to decelerate the prouesses of the formation 76-11-20/35 On the mature of the Activation of Oxygen in the Radiolysis or Aqueou-j Solutions of H202 and the cluiln oxidation of some anorgani,3 substances. However, data on the kind of ramification of the vessels , on the peculi- arities of the strurture or their capillary networks, and on inner-serous totpography are lacking. Also the outlet ways from the viaceral and parl- tal layer of the serous momDrane to the rcgionary lymphatic glands are still uninvostigated.Y4t it is known that the liquid resorption of the ca- vity liquid and of the particles suspended in itu is closely connected with the action of tne lymph track. Also :in thok case of effusions of blood into the serous cavities and of inflammatory ioxudates, tne lymphatic vessels are only means of sucking -~~ fibrin, cell do tritux microbes etc,. Recent- ly the share or 'lymphatic glands in the metastasizing of the tumorous cells from the serous cavities was domonstrated. All this concerns the lymph track of the peritoneum and the pleura as well as of the pericardium.of course it could be assumed that tne lymphatic vessels play a part that Is not Card 113 insignificant in connection with the resorption from the so-called paired Lymphatic Vessels and Regionary Lymphatic Ganglia in the 6erous Membrane of Testicles in Certain Mammals. 20-4-55/61 serous scrotal cavity. As primary stage of the experitientai elaboration of this question the author investigated the structure of the lymphatic ple- xus and the outlet ways of the lymphs from both xerous layers to thelym- phatic glandsJork was carried out on healthy male doge, cats, and rabbits which entered the stage of puberty. In order tu be able to see the lympha- tic vessels, tho animals were injected with different muspensions(Indian ink, rrussian blue) or the intercellular confines of the lymphatic endoths- lium were impregnated with 0.25/,, ammonium-silver(according to Hoyer),or, finallylthe thissues were tnject#J with the latter solution. The lymphatic plexus of the parietai and viAceral layer differea considerably from each other in their structure. The vessels of botn of these laygrs were then se- parately described in detail. It was ascertained that the outlet ways of the lymphs are different from the visceral and paristal layer of the testicle serous membrane. This can be easily explained from the point of view of ths formation of the investigated object in 6mbryogenesis.As known, the visceral layer of the peritoneum is already connicted with the genital gland from the early stages of development an"' together with the peritonsuz follows the complicated and long way from the abdominal cabity into the scrotum. The parietal layer,on the other band, is a derivative of the peritoneum of the abdominal front wall and only shows the topographic approximation to the testicles towards the end of embryonic life. From this the differencs in the lymph outlat tracks of the two serous membrane layers of the testic- les to the regionary lymphatic glands ori-inates.
