The succeeding blasts were of larger charges. Despite this, the later blasts produced smaller seismic responses than the first. The first shock Was felt very distinctly in the building inwhich the recording instrument was housed. The second blast Was felt much less appreciably, and the third and fourth were not felt at alle', In these delayed explosions there occurred a diminution (two- to threefold) in the seismic effect because of trans- ;formation,, by the shock-vaves, of the interface between dower and. I&" dome mods., ,Card .113. ACCESSION NR:. Ap4o14028 As the shock'~Iaves entered the lose dense medium., which had become crushed arxi saturated with detonation products,* there occurred a sharp decline in pressure and wave-front velocity. This zone acted as a shield or damper,, weakening the enorgy of the wave. !The decline in seismic affect,, consequently, was not due to wave interferenco. The delay interval between individual blasts may be varied, up to escape of the gases from the grounds The optical interval is selected according to' the best effects for mining-technological purposes. The boundaries of the zone in the ground with the greatest concentratton of gaseous products of the explosion are a determined by the formula R (0.8-1)ql/3 mo where q is the weight'of the charge in .kg. With delayed explosionsp sound waves of succeeling blasts are markedly extinguished. "I take this opportunity to express my thanks to S. Vo Puchkov and D. A. IZVQ$tiya. Flalka zenitt, no. 4. 19660 71-77 TOPIC TAGSS seismic waveg geology SUB CODEs 08 ABSTRACT: The value of the radius of the effect of explosive waves for grounds of intermediate strength when using the delayed shooting method Is limited to ZU radii (20 Ro) of the explosive charge. The distances between adjacent charges as established by the technical rules for shooting work correspond to the radius of effect of explosive waves. They tEere- fore correspond to all the requirements of decrease of the seismic effect of an explosion, The Interval of delay for obtaining the maximum decrease of the seismic effect of s.shot in the delayed shooting method should be as groat as possible. For practical purposes It can be several seconds and laBt up to the time of wind removal of the explosion gases from highly deformed fractured zone of a shot. The delay interval of 25 milliseconds usually used In quarries is insufficiently large. In order to decrease the seismic effect it is necessary to increase the delay interval to values iimited by technical requirements, Carrying out an experiment with a distance R between charges lying in the range from 10 Ro to 100 Rot with a constant delay Interval (50 mssc)v makes It possible to ACC HR, AP7007060 study the Interaction of the shook waves and detemine the role of these waves In the formation of the elastic seismic oscillations of the ground. A. - ARKILPATOL. 1958, 20/5 (63-6-4) IIIIIS. I Dek~Tun-orrEases of severe hypertension, associated with cholecystifis. In the first case, perforation of the gallbladder occurred and death from peritonitis supervened. At necropsy all cases showed, besides severe nephrust-lerosis, vascular changes in the gallbladder in the sense of 1wriarteritis nodown often also in the shape of plasmorrhagias and necrosis of the artery wall %ith paralytic distension of the veins. Unlike the classical cases of periarteritts tvidosa, poly- neuritis, fever and a distinct leucocytosis were absent in the 3 cases obsurved; moreover, tne duration of the disease was over I year. It seenis correct therefore to designate the clinica I- pathological picture of the 3 cases as resembling a IMri- arteritis nodosa in its course. Microscopical (indings are reported in respect of ihe gallbladder only. Brandt Berlin VINOGRAWVR Yu.N., Insh,; RMAKDV, Z.V.; 'Inzh.j FURILIDV, G.B., inzb. The author considers a polarly normalized space, the absolute of which is a hypersurface of third order. The first paragraph has an introducing character. In the second one it is asser-%'ed that the inner geometry of the considered polarly normalized space is equiprojective; an equiprojective space, however, has to satisfy still an additional condition in order that it is polarly normalized. 3 considers the two-dimensional case if the absolute is a curve of third order. If one represents the coefficients by straight line segments, being orthogonal to a ba- sis straight line and lying above or below it, depending on the sign, then it is possible to accomplish the multiplioations by %id of a pro- portional compass. Then the usual graphical addition or subtraction of the straight line segments follows in the same way as e. g. in the numeric solution by the method of Jordan (Narets L.
