ABSTRACT: Limestone exhibits different properties of friability at beating.
This Is Inportant In Its application In aetallur~-f and In
blast furnaces. Therefore a special method of determination
of this quality was worked out. The llientone is Ground and
in then slaved In three fractions: 10-7, 7-5 and 5-2 mz. The
testing equipment consists in principle of a crucible furtaco
which is adjusted to a temperature of 10000. The litestone
fractions are placod In a corundum crucible nnd are heated for
five minutes. After this time rupturtat but no noticeable
decomposition of the lifnestono should be found. After cooling,
the Pamplas are sieved aj;ain. The grnnulotetric componition

lime Wring the malting process of slag in W opca-horrth/
was investigated and the results are given in figure 1. A
positive influence was confirmed. At the beginning of the
melting process the basicity in the al ~ in reduced with the
inoreass of the aluminum oxide contentIFIg 2, Curve 1). The
aluminum content in the sIng rises In the middle and at the
end of the melting periad from 9-12 Thus the solubility of

The basicity is reduced in the case of a further increase of
the aluminum oxide content in the sIng and the assimilation
of chalk In the liquid slog to reduced. The !1.3a assimilation
