PURPOSE: This book is intended an a text-book for students of industrial engineering institutes and industrial en&Lno*rLr4 departments of technical vuzes and is authorized as such by the Ministry of Higher Education. It Le also consLdsted useful to engLnesAng and technical personnel in machine- building enterprises. Cord 1/4 Principles of Organization and Planning of Machine (Cont.) .389 CbVERAGE: The book describes features, objectives, tasks, and prin- cipal stages in the development of the organization and planning of socialist machine-building enterprises: Problems in the organization of production processes and structure of enterprises as well as their administration are discussed. A separate chapter is devote'd to charac- teristic features of basic types of production. The theoretical presentation in the book is illustrated with examples from Soviet experience. Chapter Vt. p. 153-155, contains some specific data on the make-up of sow Soviet automated production lines. For exmqple, it is mentioned that the Moscow Automobile Plant in. Likhachev employs &A autboatic production line'which consists of four vertical$ tour horizontal, and six inclined drilling and boring and thread-cutting machine tools. This line is powered by twenty electric motors with a total capacity of 83 kwo and is employed in machining cylinder-blocks for the ZIL-150 motor. All equipment is served by three workers in place of the fifty-six e=ployed prior to Card 2/4 Principles of Organization and Planning of Machine (Cont.) 389 automation. In another exa log the automation equipment at the Moscow Bearing Plant is reported to consist of a line which Includes eighty-four units, of which sixty-nine are machine tools. This automated line machines bearing races, costs the races with anticorrosive substances, assembles, and packs both roller and ball bearings. Chapterst to V were written by Professor E.A. Satell and reviewed by Doctor of Economic. Sciences KJ. Klimenko; chapter VI woo written by Candidate of Technical "c a ces N.A. RadushLnskiy and reviewed by Engineer S.A. Dumler. All chapters were read by the Department of Organization and Production Economics of the Moscow Auto- mechanic Institute. There are no references. By studying distribution curves# he obtained arlteria for standard and ex- treme values, In the southern region there was a temperature rise In the first half of the said portodi while a temperature drop was found for the second half* In the -northern region, there was an opposite tendency (R*f. 2). When comparing the climatio tendency with the secular trend of solar activityt the author (got. 5) established a *lose rtla- tionship between the 'two tandencloso which manifesto Itself In a high correlation coefficient. The secular trend suet be taken Into ac- count. T. V. Pokrovskaya (Rat* 4) established the relationship between the average monthly temperature at individual stations and the phase state of the sunspot cycles The &&in characteristic of solar activity are the relative Wolf numbers (W), Between 1875 and 1958 and between 1749 and 1958l I had a moan value of 48. Between 1875 and 1931P the mean Wolf number was 37P 48 never being attained (descending branch of the s*oular cycle)* Between 1932 and 19589 the soon W-value was 71 (ascending branch of the secular cycle). In order to doUraint the phase *tat* of solar activity in the sunspot cycle as objectively as possibloo this determination was carried out according to three indices. In addi- tion to W# the mean intensity (- of the solar processes and the average #Lnnual aaxiaua sunspot areas (81212 were taken Into account (Rot. 5). Only those years were considered whose extreme phase states were determined by at least one of the above-sentioned India*@. Investigations showed that the number of months with negative anomalies during the two extreme Card 2/3 The Relationship Between Temperature 8/050/60/000/009/003/008 Conditions in the Suropfan Part of the B012/BO63 USSR in Winter and Bolair Activity phase* of the sunspot oyol* decreased, whereas that of the months with positive anomalies increased accordingly (table 2). The influence of the extreme phases# Is# howevor#,such more Irragular If this effect is In- vostigated with reference to the Individual branches of the secular cycle. Investigations showed the followingt In the southern region of the 40~ lbropean part of the Soviet Union# the heating effect produced by the extreme phases of the sunspot cycle is due to the maximum phase of the latter on the ascending branch of the secular cycle and to the ninians phase on the descending branah. In the northern regiont the temperature rise depends on the two extreme phases of the sunspot cycle an the as- oending branch of the asoular cycle, A distinct# but weaker cooling tendency is found during the two phases of the sunspot cycle on the descending branch of the secular cycle. TITLEs Production of isoomylenes from the pentane amylone fraction PERIODICAM thimiahookaya promyshlennost's no. 39 1961, 24-26 TEXTe Isoomylones contained in the pentano amylone fraction (PAY) of thor- mal petroleum cracking are a promising raw material for the synthesis of is*. prone. The present paper deals with the production of theme compounds from, the PAY. The investigation was made with PAP of the following composition (f. by weight)i butane and butylones 0.30, isopentane 11.68, pentano 33.82, ponteno-i Mq$# trans-pentene-2 10.34# cis-pontene-2 5.75, 2-nothyl butane. 8.06. 2-mothyl butono-2* 10,58# 3-mothyl buteno-I 0.61, isoprone 2-04s trans-piperylone 1s61# ais-piperylone 1,971 others 0,29, The low content of 3-motbyl buteno-I is explained by its low boiling point (losses in decanting and storing of the fraction). A production of isoamylone by rectification is not possible since the components of the fraction form azootropic mixtures with slightly different boiling points. Hydration of isoamylones to isoamyl alcohols by means of 65% R so gave low yields 2 4 Card 1/7 I'll 8/0'97 61/000/003/003/009 Production of isoanylenes see BIOI 11203 only (about 20~). On the basis of the fact that HCI adds to the double bond on the tertiary C atom* the hydrochlorination of 2-methyl butens-2 and 2-methyl butene-I was performed. The resulting tort-asyl chloride (boiling Point 8400 can be easily separated by distillation from the hydrocarbons not hydroah2crinatod. One part by weight of PAY was shaken with three parts by weight of 801 (specific gravity 1.17-109) for 3-4 hr. Than# the hydrocarbon layer was decanted# washed with Us *4t*r# dried with CaCI and fractionated. Among the fractions (35-420C# 42.e4*C, 84-900s: residue with boiling point above 900C)q the 84-900C fraction consisted of almost pure_t-amyl chloride. Additional t-anyl chloride was obtained from the 42 840C fraction by a second distillation 0 that the total yield was about 65%. The chromatographic analysis of ; AF treated with HC1 showed the complete absence of 2-mothyl butene-2 and 2-mothyl butene-1 Among the three methods of isoasylone production from the chlorides Ii splitting-off of HCI by strong alkslienj 2) catalytic dehydrochlorination, 3) hydrolysis in the presence of weak alkalies and subsequent dehydration of t-asyl alcohol# the latter was chosen. Hydrolysis was conducted at 20-250C in the presence of 5% solutions of sodat sodium bicarbonateg ammonium bicarbonate$ or calcium hydroxide. Dehydration started at 70-7500# and attained its maximum velocity at 80-850C. The products were collected in a vessel cooled with dry lool 2) t-amyl alcohol was lot throu#h an electrically heated quartz vessel filled:with Al203 at a rate of 0*5 ml per I al of "talyst and per I hour* Table 2 gives the results, As the,PAF may also contain a higher amount of 3-nothyl butens-1 (up to W. its isomerization to 2-methyl butens-2 was studied. It was performed in a continuously working quartz apparatus filled with 10% A12(SO4)3 + 90% Al 20,0 Pure 3-mothyl butene-i was used forthis purpo"# which was obtained by treating the isoasyl, aleohol dehydrated over aluminum oxide Card 3/7
