receiver, monochromator and optical system for projecting the stream of radiation on
the input alit. The range of angles at which the scattering coefficient can be
measured In radiation of fixed vayelengthe to expanded by using an optical system
consisting of a parabolic and a spherical mirror or two spherical mirrors with the
specimen between then in the form of a plane-parallel plate. The output slit of the
monochromator is located at the niain focus of the first mirror, while the radiation.
receiver is placed at the focus of the second. This receiver Is mounted so that it
may be moved in the focal plane. 2. A modification of this device for measuring
radiation scattering toefficients at -an angle of 900 to the surface of the specimen.

ABSTRACTt This paper Is a further development of the theoretical wdel for the
structure of the boundary layer of the atmosphere in stationary conditions, as
function of external parameters. A mathematical model Is proposed for the coeffl-
clent of turbulence and a system of equations Is given for determining the vertical

heat transfer In the soil and In the atmosphere and humidity trwwftr in the a
phere. The initial and boundary conditions for the problem are stated and a generai
soiutionis given. rormulas are derived for calculating the vertical wind profile
In the boundary layer of the atmosphere and a computational scheme -is proposed for
determining the various parawters appearing In these formulas. Examples ars given
illustrating the effect of the coefficient of turbulence an the structure of the
boundary layer of the atmosphere. It is found that the coefficient of turbulence
increases with altitude according to a power law, reaching a maximum at some*point
and then decreasing with altitude. An appendix to the article gives tables of the
functions appearing In the formulas derived. Orig. art. has: ' 2 figu"99 6 tabLes$

ABSTPACT: A description of a self-made generator and the method of linearity testing.
Three tubes are usods two type OHN'double triodes for cathodo-couplad
xultivibrators and one type WKS pentods, for high-'frequency oscillator.
The mult1v1brator square-pulse frequency can be varied from 30 to 250 kc,
Applied to the modulator electrode of the picturo tube this frequency
produces from 4 to 16 vertical black-on-white stripes. Hone* the linearity
of the horizont. sweep can be easily tested,,
The second multivibrator produces a square-pulse frequency between 00 and
5W 070100/800. ApW*d to the modulator electrode this frequency causes
from 9 to 10 horlsontal stripes to appear on the #arson. These help to
check the linearity of the vertical sweep.
Pulse repetition frequencies 30-250 ko and W500 a can be used
for testing of the signal transmission through the video amplifier.
The h-f oscillator generates frequencles between 45 and 108 no.

detail. A simultaneous application of both pulse repetition frequesolos
results in a ahossboard-ressabling pattern on the screen. Any irregularity
of the pattern is an Indioation of nonlizearity. The noulinearity
cooffloiont oan be "oily determined by a ruler and the use of a simple
formula.
