technological method

TEXT: Vapor phase transhydrogenation between acrolein and ethyl and iso-
propyl alcohols on solid catalyst* was studi*ds The method consisted es-
sentially of passing the reagents through a tubular glass reactor filled
with the catalyst* The products, chiefly allyl alcohol and acetaldehyde
or acetone, were collected and analyzed. Cul Agg CdO and ZnO on pumice
and HgO prepared by various methods were used as catalysts and optimum
temperatures for each were determine4 on the basis of the degree of con-
version and yield of allyl aleohol produced, HgO was studied most exten-
sively# since highest degrees of convopion and selectivity were obtained
with this catalysts between e%-0 350-400 Ce Activity of the Hgo was undi.
minished after a twofold regeneration by heating In air* In further ex-
perimentaq using MgO9 other reaction parametaraq such as thickness of the

TEXT; Two special test chambers are donaribod which are used for testing
mechanical properties of high-melting materials (graphitto carbides.#

inert gas up to 20000C. In the electrical scheme# st*p-down transformers
with a power of 20-40 kwo and autotr&nsformers for temperature control

optical pyrouster. The mechanical assembly of the chamber designed ftr
compression tests comprises the fdlloving parts: a cylindrical casing
.provided with a lapped removable covtr and a quartz window on the-right

are left in the -chamber. The compression strength@ of graphite and carbon
graphite (cylindrical sample measuring 6-8 m In disaster and 15-20 =
lonc) were measured over a temperature range of 20-20000C In the first
chamber. The tensile strength of graphite under the same conditions was
measured in the second chambers The dependence of strength on the
temperature for APB .(ARV) type graphite and carbon graphite for slootrodes

ABSTRACT: Comparison of certain technological and economic indices for the
operation of open-hearth departments shows that the rate of output
by a 370-t open-hearth furnace in southern plants is 25-30% and the
utilization of equipment is 35-40clo poorer than at the Kuznetsk and
the* ..- aitargorsk Metallurgical Kombinats. This is attributed to
longer s6tdowns for repair (10,S- 15.50/o longer) and greater losses
from scrap, :which attain 0.72-3.1,20/o. At the Kuznetsk Metallurgical
Kombinat the weight of a heat has been raised-to.390 t, and the dura-
