saturated vapor in two binary systems: H 0 - ECI and (C2H 5)20 - C R OHV@

which differ considerably-from the ideal ones. The compositions of the
liquid and gaseous phase at 250C found in Ref.1 were used for the cal-
culation. The curvez r(yd (Fig.) was plotted on the basis of data
on the composition of equilibrium phases and the values for the func-
tion z under the integral for the .system R20 - HC1 at 25 0C (Table 1).
The pressure of saturated vapor was calculated on the basis of'the Cal-
culated area (3) between the curve, the coordinate axes, and the vari-
able ordinate y from equation (4). Table 2 gives the values of the
integrals (areas) S and.the values calculated for the total vapor pres-
'sure P. The published experimental values of vapor pressure for the
binary system studied are given for comparison. The composition of equi-
librium phases, and the pressure .of saturated vapor of the system
ethyl ether ethyl:aloohol at OOC-on the basis of similar calculations

ABSTRACTs The increase of specific power output and fuel economy leads
to a continuous increase in the number of revolutions and
the application of a'gan-distributing mechanism in automo-
bile engines. In most overhead-valve engines the camshaft#
are'situated,underneath. Here the parts are subject to Vi-
-brationa which disturb the gas distribution and lead to
breakage NAKI has Idesigned a test installation (Figure 1)
for Aete;mining,the parameters of the gas-distribating me-
chanism, which guarantee its minimum vibration. The device
is described. Mathematical calculations of the valve oper-
ations are presented and oscillograms of valve speeds (Fi-

gure 3),and speeds obtained at valve'vibrations (Figure 7)
are discussed.- '. These results are graphically applied to the
performance of the NAMI-021 engine (Figure 5). Experimental

The Resistance of overhead-Valve Gas-Distributing Mechanisms to Vibration
The author,concludes that the correct selection of the pa-
rameters for'the design of parts will assist in considerably
increasing the resistance of the gas-distributing mechanism
to vibrations. This.should be taken into consideration
when now models of-booster engines are projected. There
