This article describes how a 31-5 megavoltampere trans-.
former installed at a 110 kv substation was switched off
from the gas protection by an incorrect operation of the
relay. lt was found out during the test that the structure
bearing the transformer expander was not rigid enough,
Tibratione,were caused by shocks, which resulted in spil-
ling the mercury contained in the shells of the gas relay,
closing the signal contacts and switching off the trans-
former. To increase the rigidity of the structure bearing
the e-~panderv the structure has been jolneL at I points to

an electric.transmission line of 35 kv# and since the UGP-51
type drive from'the remontno-mokhanicheskiy zavod Latvenergo.:.t
(Latvenorgo mechanical Repair Plant) failed -to out out,' the
electric sub-station was do-energized. When the cause of
the breakdown was,investigated, it was found that a washer
in the drive.of:the out-out.olectromagnot had become-unriv-
sted and had.broken, thus preventing the head from "sticking"
in'the upperposition. Pieces of the washer had slipped down.'

ABSTRACT: In a KS-15000 synchronous compensator made by the
plant imeni V.I. Lenin in the CSR, installed in one
network district of the Donbassenergo, the contact.
indicator of the-oil flow was replaced by a float
relay, activated by a drop in oillevel. This float
relay proved to be unreliable and was instrumental,in.-
several accidental disconnections of the compensator.
It was found that as a result of inleakage of air into
the oil tank$ air amassed in the tank upper section
