Abstract: ffuthor's German summary modifieg The author refers to his earlier statement that there are four basic blood groups (0, At Bt and AB) in horses, plus certain other factors (secondary ag~utinogenos and agglutinins). In the experiment discussed in this artiolep 56 pairs of, horses were used, one in each pair as donor and one as the recipient of a tranfusion of the same type blood. The results showed that secondary agglutinogenes exist in the erythxooytes of certain horses to cause the formation of secondary agglutinins in the recipient between the fourth and seventh day after the transfusion of even compatible blood, such agglutinins disappearing vithin six to 28 days after transfusion. The question of the influence of the amount of transfused blood on the level of the titer of the secondary agglutinins remains open. Besides the basic blood groupsy howevert it is clear that certain subgroups exist., in dependence upon the type of secondary agglutinogenen and secondary agglutinins. Geological and geophysical analyses showed thrrit intense positive anomalies cxtending linearly along the meridional (up to 1000 ~V) are formed by iron quartzites, porphyritoides, and epidote and amphibole shales of the Karsal~pay series. The -Area distribution card 1/2 UDC: 550. 830(574, 5) AR6032152 of the electrical properties of the rock had riot bcon sufficiently studied. The study of the polarization characteristics of rack and ore was begun only in 1961. Residua magnetization was studied principally in extruded and metamorphic rock. Geo- physical investigations showed a block structure for the Dzhezlcazgan trough-the synclinal region situated to the north of the Dzl)ezkazgarl deposits. Geophysical studies and drilling operations revealed :P. rather wide distribution of halogenic formations, whose age was determined roughly as Permian. Thick Lower Paleozoic strata and overlying rocks with oil-bearing characteristics, salt dome tectonics, indications of oil in the gaseous and liquid phase in the Permian cross- section, and favorable structure, all indicate that the Dyhezkazgan-S,-irysuysk trough is an oil-bearing region. TITLE: Separating zirconium and hafnium during the extrac- tion of their nitrates PERIODICAL: Zhurnal prikladnoy khimii, v. 54, no. 12, 19619 2605 - 2609 TEXT: The effect of HNO 3 concentration in solutions of Zr and Hf nitrates on their separation by extraction with organic solvents Was investigatedo The solvents used were ie-o-amyl alcohol, amyl acetate and butyl acetate. As-starting material ZrOC12 - SH20 was used and was converted to the nitrate by precipitation with NHAOF and by subsequent solution in HNO . The amounts of extract zirconi- um were determined either gravime;r1cally or calorimetrically, the concentration of Zr being expressed as ZrO 2 g11. Hafnium was deter- mined by a radioactive method. These determinations were omasional- ly checked by spectral analysis~ Details of the spectral analysis Card 1/3 Separating zirconium and hafnium ... 32470 S/080/61/034/012/002/017 D202/D305 method are given in full. The degree of separation was evaluated by distribution coefficients D and a separation coefficient a de- 41 lined by CZrorg CHf 9 N (D Z1, ~ CZr aqo and %f CHf aq .- where N is the number of impulses in a unit time in tin equal solu- tion volume and 0 is the concentration. The separation coefficient a is equal to the ratio DZr/DHfo The results of these investigation for all the three solvents are given. In all the cases investiga- ted, D rose with increasing acid concentrations the efficiency of separation slightly increasing in the series iso-amyl alcohol-amyl acetate - butyl acetate. The authors also studied the effect of Zr concentration in the starting solut*ionq in the range of 10 to 90 g/1, on D and a and found that D decreased with the rise in Zr con- centration. The results are discussed in the light of previously obtained data concerning the formation of zirconyl nitrate polymers Card 2/3 3111 0 S7680/61/034/012/002/017 Separating zirconium and hafnium D202/D305 in aqueous HNO3 solutions, It is thought that with the rise of Hh'03 concent-ration compounds of the type (ZrO)n(NOi)2n are formed which after solvation migrate into the organic phas&. The lowering of D with rising Zr concentration is explained by the rise in molecular weight of Zr polymers which takes place under these circumstances, thus hindering the migration of Zr salt into the organic solvent. The results have shown the relative stability of coefficient a wha:,,_~ Zr extractability is low and its decrease when the latter is in- creased. The increase in HN03 concentration which raises the Zr ex- tractability at the same time reduces the difference between Zr and Hf. OW? of March 31, 1961) TEXT: A patent was issued for a method imparting antifriction properties to cast-iron or steel surfaces of parts. A partioular.feature of the method is the spraying or application by, galvanic-means of Cu, Cr, Ni, Ag, Mo, In, Pb, Zn or Sn metal in a I - 40 micron layer onto the sCirfaces. The part is then placed in a hermetically sealed bath with sulfur compounds and is held there for 0.5 - 8 hours at 200 - 800 0C..The bath may be composed of solids or molten .salts; the sulfur diffuses from these substances into the partto 1- 30-0 micron depth, forming sulfides. Subsequently the parts-are c 'ooled down to 1000C and washed in hot water during 10 - 15 minutes. After drying they are heated in oil Card 1/2 S/123/62/000/019/006/010 A methof of improving antifriction properties of... A006/A101 0 for 5 - 20 min at 110 200 C.
