Orig 1:~_,b Sadovodstvo vinoGradarstvo i'viaodeliye Moldavii, 1957, No 4, 35-38 Abstract Cultivatioa of Rlaitsiteli variety in Ukraine is possible only In regions more ass Lred of warmth. Instability of fr.-it bearing in Rkatsitcli ia Ukraine is coiuiected first of all with its hoightened sencitivity to the soil inots- t-re and also with the couparatively slight resistance of its principal buds to the low wiiiter temperatures aud a considerable loss of them in iudivid',-Ial years. As a rule, infertile aild low-yield shoots dQvclop fron, the rapIncement and dorm,,,t buds. Therefore, Rkatsiteli Card 1/2 157 USSR/Cultivated Plants - Fruits. Berries. Their best for.-ation in the L7krai-.e is faii-shaped, stemless, with long pr.-~aiii& 7he fruit bearing of Rkatsiteli can be considerably Licreased by plucIzing the green shoots. The proditetivity of this variety can be brought with special edre to 120 centners/ha. Ye.A. A method for the determination of the modulus of elasticity of the roadbed and the track at a rail joint is examined. The coef- ficients of relative stiffness of the foundation and of the rail at the joint are determined by the deformistion- increment method. The modulus of elasticity of the joint does not have a linear correlational relationship with the speed. The advantages of angular splice bars as compared with plane splice plates are shown. The working of Card 1/1 wedge-type and bolt-type rail chairs is investigated. L. M. Monocrystals of US were gro in the authors' laboratory by ublimation of US pawder in a neutral atmosphere (Ref 2). To void the of fact of deformations on the absorption apectrmu, ths, : monocrystals were attached to substrates at one end only, the other ond rdsaining free. The spectra were obtainea at 77 and 4.20K in polarized and "tural ultraviolet light using a quartz spectrograph Ck-12 (25 J,/mm linear dispersion in the 3200 A region). The line structure of the absorption edge of XuS monocrystals vas found to be polarized (Fig 1). At'4.20K the 3206 1 line as canpletely polarized with its electric vector at ri#it angles to the optical axis of the crystal (I i.e. it could be represented by a plane absorption Ca rd 1/3 3/0 51/60/008/04,/O1 4/032 1201/3691 Investigation of the Absorption Spectra of line Sul~hide Crystals oscillator. The 3180 1 line ins unpolarized or slightly polarized and the 3115 A line ma strongly polarized with 1 11 c (the absorption oscillator close to a linear electric dipole). The nature of polarization of the spectrm of US monoorystals is similar to polarization found in other uniaxial crystals with -discrete structure of the absorption edge (Refs 4-6). Thin crystals (d-0.1 g) were found to stick to the bass~avl the consequent deformation produced displico- ment of the absorption lines (Table 1), as well as broadening (the 3205 A line). The-absorption spectra of acme "free" crystals were also found to be displaced by 1-2 A due to Internal stresses produced during growth of the monocry5tale or due to differences in attachment to the bases. The authors investigated also the absorption spectra (Fig 2) of polycrysi*llino US films produced by sublimation In vacuo.! At 4.20K the following abaorption linQ4 were observed (the widths are given in bra6kets)s 3212 , (10 1), 3190 A (10 1), .3128 1 (20 1) all these are shmin In Fig 2a. In some f ilms a weale line at 3271 1 (20 1 width) could be soon (Fig 2a). The positions of the absorption lines in polyerystalline US films at 4.2 and 770K are listed in Table 2. It follows that the films have hexagonal structure. The 5212, 3190 and 3128 1 lines of the US films and the corresponding lines in the spectra of monocrystals are the liass of the lattice itaelf (exciton excitatioa). Novocherkas. politekhn. in-ta, 1955, Vol 31, pp 3-11 ABSTRACT- The change in the hydrodynamic characteristics of j flow of a solvent passing through an immovable layer consisting of crystalline grains of salt is examined. Tn a first approximation it is assumed that the grains retain a geometrically similar shape 'during the process of dissolution. An expression is given for the height of the layer, the specific surface of the grains, the equiv- alent diameter of the cross section, and the hydraulic resistance of the layer in terms of the relative reduction of the mean weight of the individual grains of the layer K which characterizes t - given degree of dissolution. The constancy of the free volume of the layer V during a downward motion of the liquid and the dependence of V on the velocity of motion of the solvent during Card 1/2 an upward motion of the liquid are noted. It is shown that for a 124-5;-1-791 The Hydrodynamics of the Dissolution Process of a Salt in an jmmovi~_ble Layer dissolution process at V=const the Reynolds parameter decieases, since at some critical stage of the dissolution the liquid will then become laminar. TITLE: The Hydrodynamics of the Dissolution Process of a Salt in an Immovable Layer (Gidrodinamika protsessa rast-voreniya soli v nepodvizhnom sloye) PERIODICAL; Tr. Novocherkas. politekhn. in-ta, 1955, Vol 31, pp 13-Z4 ABSTRACT: Description of an experimental investigation of the hydro- d)niamics of the process of dissolution on a model of an immov- able layer consisting of nonsoluble, geometrically similar.. cylindrical particles of various dimensions, A description is given of the test setup and the results of tests in the transitional Reynolds -number range are described. The authors arrive at the conclusion that in the turbulent range the test results are within 14- 17 percent of the calculated hydraulic resistance of the layer based on the relative change of weight of the particles. The same metl~od of calculation yields less favorable results for the laminar range, because the measurement of the smaller pressure differences is less accurate. The semiempirical Card 1/2 formulas obtained can be utilized for the calculation of the change
