heart and decompensation, and somnolence. A survey of the medical literature

ABSTRkCT2 A 256-channel time-of-flight analyzer developed in the period 1960-1962
has since undergone considerable modification, including its adaptation for
analyzing pulse-height spectra. This modification was made possible by the addition
of an analog-digital converter which transforms pulse hei&.t into ek series of
pulses 1/2 microsecond apart,, the number of pulses being equal to 256 for a 100 volt
input signal;) The analyzer can store a spectrum in 256 channels, or in either half
(128 channel of its memory* The analyzer dead time is (18 + 0-50 nicroseconds
where N is the number of Itchannels" of pulse height (128 or 256 maxl=). A max:imum
of 216-1 (65535) counts per channel can be storeu, at which point the analyzer is
automatically turned off to avoid overflow. The integral linearity is about 0.2%
for 256 channels and 0-35% for 128 channels, the differential linearity is within

is inserted. The machine carries out horizontal-electrode welding without any
participation by the operator who only controls the device, and after the automa-

TI7-XT: A connection of Al and Cu wirei by fn6~ns of electric welding is rath-
er difficuIt, since these metalo have different properties, Al yields to a plas-
-tic de"ormation at a low pressure and oxidizes readily, which increases the elec-
tric resistance of wires and leads to their heating-. A method is suggested of
connecting Al and Cu, when producing electric wires.of various configurations,
by means of an intermediate layer of a ternary alloy Al-Cu-Ag or Al-Cu-Zn. The
intermadiate'layer forms as a result of a diffusion annealing-during 4 - 6 hburs
at a temperature lower than the melting point of eutectics of ternary alloys.

Abstract : The urine was investigated by the method of ShAr and
Faragoa,. In 182 pregnant women., correct determinations
were made in 87.3$ (100f in 4 - 7-month-pngnancies
and 77.9% In 3-month-]pregnancies). In 132 women with
pathological pregnancy, positive reactions were obtained
in 50% of the cases. Negative reactions were seen in
17 of 19 normal non-pregnents and in 36 of 39 women
with various gynooologioal diseases. Urine from 5 man
gave negative reaction. Delmndence of the reaction on
the presence of gonadotropic hormones was not estab-

Mass examinations were carried out in the weaving mill of one of the largest
cotton plants in L6dz. 1,000 women were examined, classified in 3 groups:
weavers, pluckers and others. The largest percenta c of healthy women was
found among weavers, and the smallest among pfluckers, since weavers are
generally younger than pluckcrs. Gynaccologicall diseases most frequently en-
countered were: changes in the vaginal part of the uterus, and static -and in'
flammatory changes of the genital organs. These ailments increased with age
and with the number of childbirths and abortions of the women in question.
Five cases of cancer in the early stage were discovered.
