Omskogo Cos. n.i. in-ta epidemiol., mikrobial. i gigieni, No 3, 167-178 Abstract: In vitro the strongest inhibiting action on pertussis bacteria is exerted by levonycetin, followed by bicmWcin, syntomycin, streptamycin, a native garlic preparation, sodium salicylate and naphthaline. In expOrImental pertussis in white.-Ice, a therapeutic effect was manifested by syntcoycin, levomycetin and bioqrcin. At a dilution of 1:100 syntmUcin fully inhibited the hyalurmrAdase activity of pertussis bacteria toxin. The use of syntomycin in combination with ascorbic acid for prophylaxis and treatment of early whooping cough stages yielded positive results. A. - SBORN.TRUD.SAMARK.MED.TNST. 1956, 2(161-164) The clinical administration of lagochylus preparations In more than 600 cases confirmed its haemostatLc property. In 200 patients with uterine haemorrhages the preparations were used effectively. To elucidate the mechanism of the haemostatic action of lagachylus in uterine haemorrhages the author set up experiments on the cornu of an isolated uterus of a guinea-pig, applying the method of Magnus and Kerer and on a rabbit uterus in situ by the method of M. P.Nikolaev. The experiments showed that following the hypodermic administration of 40 ml. of a 10% aqueous infusion of lagochylue the uterine motor function increases. The effect is demon- strable 20-30 min. after administration and lasts more than 2 hr. The infusion of lagochylus acts mainly upon the rhythm of the uterine contractions, in the direction of an acceleration. The experiments on the uterus in situ make it reasonable to suppose that the effectiveness of lagochylus preparations in uterine haemorrhages depends not only on increased blood coagulability and decreased permeability of the vascular wall, but also upon a reinforced uterine motoricity.
