m-P. 115-1160 (from ale . Ib reacted with a 10%
NaOH formed N-phenyl nor-1 (2-phenyl-l-oxy-8-

AB3TRACT : By heating cotarnone (2-vinyl-4,5-methylenedihy-
droxy-6-methoxybenzaldehyde) (1) in alkaline ~1-

or with the Scbiff bases prepared from these
amines, in the presence of KGN or CO(Nl~ )2, the
authors were able to prepare compounds containing
the isoquinoline skeleton, i.e., analogs of hydro-
cotarnone containing as substituents the CN- or
NHCONH2-groups at the 1-position. A solution of
5.15 gms I in a mixture of 40 mi CE50H and 4 ml

ABSTRACT: The hydrazone derivatives of cotarnon transform into isoquinoline
derivatives when heated in alkaline alcohol in the presence of potassium cyanide
catalyst. N,Nt-bia(isoquino1ine) derivatives form from cotarnazine under these
conditions in the absence of catalyst. If a catalyst is present the reaction
product is a mixture of isoquinoline and norcotarnin. The steps leading to the
synthesis of N,N?-bis(:Lsoquino1.ine) were described in detail and the structure of
the product was verified by infrared spectroscopy. The UV and IV spectrums wore

solution, subjleJt to the boundary conditions, is effected
with the aid of complex variable and integral equation
theory. It is illustrated by calculating the deflection

present article provides a survey of publications on integer programming up to 1964 and thus:',',
fills an important gap in the Russian-language literature on mathematical programming. Thoi-,'.
survey pertains to the following classes of integer problems: 1) Extremal problems of com-
binatorial type; a) unimodular problems; b) general problem of the scheduling'theory; c) the
traveling salesman problem; 2) Problems with nondivisible types of production or resources;
