TITLE: Electron-energy-loss Spectr!!4n NaCl and KCI PERIODICAL- Izvestlya vysshikh uchebnykh zavedeniy, Fizika, 1 1960, Nr 3. pp 56 - 62 (USSR) ABSTRACT: An experimental vorification of the results of Vyatskin's work in Ref 1. The previous work considered the theory of inelastic electron scattering in solid crystals and related to the narrow filled bands of initial electron states in metals. Transitions are divided into two forms - interband n transitions, which are split, giving regular characteristic losses, and free transitions (noise). The characteristic losses were observed but noise was absent (Ref. 3).- The present work was carried on by measuring retar- datlon curves in a spherical condenser. Magnetic fields *0 0 and surface chargos were carefully eliminated. The results indicate the validity of the theory, showingve" 9 Cardl/2 S/i3g/60/000/03/009/o45 EMOJ ~35 Electron-energy-loss Spectra in -NaCI an , R the presence of both characteristic losses and noise. The lines correspond to excitation or decay of levels and bands in the forbidden zone, interzone transitions or combinations - two successive inelastic collisions such as splitting of interzone n transitions and decay of a luminescent centre,. Given the correctness of the initial assumptions, the Bohr method gives results in good agreement with the experimental curves. There are 3 figures, :2 tables and 5 Soviet references. The studied Jurassic clay formations are terrigenous sediments of a mes. of the platform type in a humid zone. Jurassic clays possess hidden microoleavagis structure and hidden fracturing,, They contain organic substances up to 4%)o ferrous sulfide, mainly pyrite (up 'to 2.5 %), gypsum ~uP to 1.3 %) and Card 1/2 carbonates (up to 12 %) among which prevails calcium carbonate. .5-2-25/35 TITLEs On some Epigenetical Changes of Jurassic Clay Sediments in Connection with the History of their Formation and Stratifica- tion Conditions (0 nskotorykh opigenetichaskikh izmeneniyakh yurskikh glinistykh otlozhe'sty)v avyazi a istoriyey ikh formiro- vaniya i usloviyami xaleganiya The basic factor whit)h determines the present physical state of Jurassic clays is the depth of their occurrence.
