maguetic-spin specific heat. Comparison with the specific heat of
CdC12 at helium temperatures leads to the conclusion that the mag-
netic specific heat of FeC12 at helium temperature obeys a cubic
� law. The presence of a term proportional to T-2 in the specific
:heat indicates the existence of a low-temperature anomaly which may

Investigated during its reaction with ethyl alcohol, thiourea and glucose.
It was found that the photochemical reduetioa reaction of the dye is
unavoidably connected With the phototransfer of the hydrogen 'f~cm the
reducing agent to the molecule of the dye. 'The effect of temperature

The possibility of displacing the dark equilibrium with ligh$' in oxygen-
free neutral and-acid thionine and p~enyll~ydrazinesulfomate ~olutions is
debated. The equilibrium ia this.s2stem existing ia dark ooaditions is
displaced as result of light absorption by the dyes (thiOnine and phenol
diazosulfonate). The hydrogen transfer orl6inating during photochemical
reactions takes place with the accumulation of free energy. ~he increase
in color intensity during expcsure to light was found 6o be the result

Sporadic typhus fever (Brill's disease) is clinically often atypical, the duration of
fever not exceeding ?o10 days; the skin rash may be scanty or absent. In, tend
of a moderate leucocytosis in epidemic typhus, leucopenia and lymphocytosie oc-
cur in sporadic typhus. TheWeLI-Felix test is not reliable in sporadic typhus since
in 50% of cases it is negative or too weak. Among all typhus cases for 1952-1954,
in 39.6% of cases the disease followed � previous typhus infection in the past. The
summer incidence of sporadic typhus in Poland is contrary to the winter incidence
of epidemic typhus. Since recrudescences of typhus were recorded as late as 50 yro
after the first infection, the eradication of tTphtm seem impossible during the
future years. A replacement of the ~,U~ed ~raccine by a Live attenuated strain of
Rickettsia prowaseki (E) is recommended. Anigstein - Galveston, Tex. (L, $, 17)
