It is seen, moreover, from this table that the graphite nozzle was dipped to a depth of about 1 meter in each case, t-hat the speed of in- jection of the powder averages at 10 to 12 kT_T Der minute with a single nozzle, that the chemical ef- ficiency of the reaction hardly ever exceeds 101~ and is certainly greater with a single than with a double jet and, finally, that the cost in dollars of re- moving 0 .001,~, of sulfur from 1 ton of Dig iron ranges from 2 to 20 cents, with an average cost of about 4 cents for the single nozzle method. As far as the CaCN agent is concerned, it i,,iay be considered im- prac~icable since its prepariation is lengthy and com- Card 5/6 plicated and it causes too great a loss of temperature V/ vOL./79-59--P-7/14 Metallurgical Fews - Desulfurization of Pig Iron Outside the T'last Furnace with Solid Desulfurizing Agents in the course of its reaction, There are 11 tables, 10 graphs, 4 diagrams and 17 references, 5 of which are German, 8 Fnglish, 2 Swedish and P- Prench Card 6/6 MASLANKA, Alsksander, mgr.inz.; ZIELINSKI, Stefant mgr.inz,; KOWALXWSKIj Maciejs mgrAnz. ---- Determination of reductivity, temperatute and softening range of different iron-nickel ores in the pelletizing P'rodess. As a result of biological tests the conclusion is reached that the I obtained by the benzene method is riot inferior to I of the firm Merck, and yield ofi I is higher than on isolation of I (for comparison) by the two procedures described in the literature. I-content in raw material is determined by the quantitative colorimetric method (solvent -- benzene). From authors' summary.. 2 Z. Among them was also Memnoniella echinata, which in the opinion of some authors is encountered in the tropics only. Twelve strains wore isolated from two kinds of wool. Some of them ware described in literature as microorganisms pathogenic to Card 1/2 KOWALIK. R.; SADURSKA, I. Microorganisms destroying leather bookbindings. Pipe production is real zed either in series of sections with an identical length or in serie's of sections tith varying -lengths. In the first case, the length for a givdn series is measured by calculating the number of sections and multiplying this result by the length at one section. In '.the second case, each section length has to be measured separately and the results 'then have to be totalledi Both methods are primitive, time-conmiming and inar!curate. The'NDR-1 electronic pipe length meter, automatically measuring the pipe length, is~ 'designed to replace the two above-mentioned methods. The MDR-1 device measures .the length of each section-with an error not exceeding 1 cm, automtically totals ~, C.ard 1/2 ACCESSION NR: AP4026371 'IV-he length of the sequentially measured pipe.oections, and totals -the number; of pieces of the measured pipe sections. The device has the following measuring range: (1) combined length of sections in the series - 100 km = 107 cm; (2) number of pipe .sections in a series - 10,000 pieces. The MDOR-1 has the following advantages in :comparison'to the previous methods: (l)-small error of measurement; (2) elimina- ,tion of subjective reading error; (3) automatic recording of measurement result in -scale-of-ten sys&em; (4) large capacity; (5) combining of the length measuring and weighing cycles; (6) reduction of labor by 6%. The presence of a sound channel is connected with the existence of a sound speed minimum in certain layers of sea water. The distribut- tion of these layers depends on how far the water is Warmed up and on its salini- ty. The divergence angle of a sound beam 'during August is equal to 180, which shows the real possibilities of utilizing a sound channel for hydro-acoustic com- munications. fAbstracter's note: Complete translation) Card 1/1 MASICKA, Halina; KOWALIK, Zygmmt Dynaraics of the ripple-mark formation in the coastal zone.
