KO Zdra-v-.-B-clo-r-u-ss-ii-1956,-YI-3--6) Ile surgical services in the Republic have undergone considerable improve- ment during the post-war years. The number of surgical beds has increased by 25 O/o during the 5th 'Five-Year Plan'. The number of surgeons has increased over the same period of time by 52 O/o. Approximately 50 O/o of all surqical procedures are carried out in regional, large rural, district and factory hos- pitals. Therapeutic and rophylactic treatment ind suitable pre- and post- operative care are provised. Blood transfusion, both intravenous and intra- arterial, is widely used. In 1955 over 67,000 operations were performed throughout the Republic, with mortality of 1.4 O/o; 77 O/o of all the operations were performed under local anaesthesia. Mortality associated with acute a per~dicitis has dro p*ped to 0.3 O/o. It has also dropped markedly in all tKC_ main acute conditions of abdominal organs. However, in some areas (Vitebsk, .y exceeds the average figures for the Republic, which Gomel etc.) mortalit must indicate late diagnosis and hospitalization. The number of traumatic conditions has increased. There is a shortage of specialists in trauma and on- cologists in the Republic, Oncologists constitute 5 914 of the total number of surgeons. Ile author puts forward several measures designed to improve the surgical services of the Republic. II-- KoztmNKOV, J'A. ------- Great Russian surgeon. Zdrav. Bel. 6 no.12t59-62 D 160. (MIRA 14:1) 1. Only 9 foundries produce 71.4' '" of - 3".! the total output, whereas 31 plants produce only 4 -. The degree of mechanization in the various plants is shown in Table 1. In 1957, 41.4' of the total casting output was produced by mechanized methods~ In the machine building plants, with the exception of the big plants ChTZ and UralZIS where the degree of mechanization is higher, only 27;_" of the production is mechanized, The coke consumption for the charging of the furnaces varies from 27',"' of the total con- sumption in the Varkhniy Ufaley ' Nickel Plant to 1C - 115 in the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plants. Production per worker varies from 9 - 48 tons a year, and the prime cost from 1,124 - 4,800 rubles per toa (Table 2). There is a Card 1/2 large deficit in cast materials in the Chelyabinsk Economic sov-126-58-9-1/16 Specialization and Outlook for the Development of Casting Production in the Chelyabinsk Economic Rogion Region. Plants costing 75 million rublcs must be built to produce 92,000 tons of cast material. The supply of cast material can be organized in a more efficient way. At the present time a plant in Tsshkent supplies the 1,lsenitogorsk Crane Plant, and a plant in Kusa in the Chelyabinsk Region supplies a Plant in Tashkent, The development of production in the years 1953-1957 is shown in Figure 2. The deficit in cast material will reach 429,000 tons in 1965, It is re- co,mmended to turn 11 mixed production plants over to speci- alized production. Yanual production method, amounting now to 58.64 of the total oiitput, should be decreased to 25 - 28' New plants producing their own carbon dioxide for carbonic steel should be erected. Q1') where x, and x, are the ionic fractionsof the cations, and Fl and F2 are the partial free energies, while Q12 is the heat of mixing. The heats of mixing of the basic oxides (FeO, MnO, MgO, CaO) are equal to zero. Only the heats of mix- ing of CaO and MgO with SiO2 and of MnO with SiO, are taken as differing from zero. They are -27, 000 and 10, 000 cal/mol respectively. Equation (2) is used to calculate the distribution of 0 between the liquid iron and the slag, The heat of mixing of MnO and SiO? is taken as zero. The coefficient of activity of FeO(fl) is found to be log fl -- tx3 + x4)x5 5900/'T(3), -herein x3, x4 and x5 are the ion fractions of Ca, Mg and Si, corresponding to the mol fractions of the respective oxides. An analysis of a large number of ex- perimental data by means of equation (3) and comparison with other methods of analysis shows that the suggested method provides satisfactory results. Equation (2) makes it possible to find the activity both of f and of other slag components. This equation was employed to calculate the equilibrium of Mn and P distributed between the iron and slags. Equation (2) it- not applicable to acid slags, as the phenomenon of polymerization of S'04 yields unequal energy values for the 0 ions. 0 ions bound to two ions of Si are incapable of Card 2/3 137-58-4-6558 Thermodynamic Properties of Slags in the Li8ht of Ionic Theory polarization. The section end ribs rest oi. joint rings which are fixed to mutually parallel horizontal support plateG. The lower plate is fixed while the upper plate can be moved. These plates are located between vertical columns which in turn are rigidly fixed to a stationary base. Setup time is cut during changeover from one type of assembly to another, and the number of.! required tools and attachments is minimized by equipping the stocks with a coordinate unit consisting of a lower support plate with a turret which can rotate about the vertical axis, a vertical bar which is fixed at the turret end and other supports which have horizontal bars. Each of these bars may be moved in a horizontal direc tion and carries a working tool such as a holding device or a trimming head. 2. A Card 1/2 uDc: 621.757:629.13.012.2 i
