ABSTRACT: The authors describe a large autoclave designed for studying the physical
and chemical properties of cement after setting under the conditions wbich exist in
deep gas and oil wells. A diagram of the autoclave and'its hydraulic systeTs is shown
in the figure. The unit consists of casing 5 which Is 18M mm long with an outside di-
ameter of 178 mm and an Inside diameter of 90 m. Plugs 3 with tapered threads are
screwed into both ends of the casing. Inside each plug Is a rod 2 with support plate$.
An elastic sealing ring 4 is located between the support plate and the face of the
plug. Tension on nut I compresses the seal sufficiently for holding the starting pres-
sure. As the pressure increases, the plate compresses the ring further to provide re-
liable sealing. A thermometer bulb 7 and manmeter tube 11 are-threaded Into the top
of the casing. Installed in the owmeter tube Is a needle valve 12 for releasing air
from the autoclays as It is filIed vitb vater. Pusp 23 is used fbr filling and ymp

the casing of the autoclave in asbestos liner 9. The caoing of the autoclave Is en-
closed in jacket 6, The opace between the jacket and the casing to filled with a beat

accommodates three girder specimens measuring 40xhOx16O me or three cubic speciviens
measuring 5Ox5Ox5O mm. A pressure of 1300,atm vmW, be, not up at a temperature of 200C.

ABSTRACT: In the Kramatorskiy tsem*ntnyy zavod (Kramistorsk Cement 'Plant)
intensive.ventilation of cement mills was installed in 1951,
to,increane the produotivity of t a machines. For hygienic
~
purposes, an hourly flow of 800 m
in a mill drum of the
size 2.2 x 13 m is sufficient. Tor technological purposes,
the air flow must be more intensive to remove the fine cement
particles from the mill and prevent cloeginp. Figure 1 shows
the productivity of the mill during the grinding of Portland
cement without additions. Productivity has been increased
by 4 tons per hour. The particles removed weigh 970 kg/h-
The relative conaumption of electric energy has not increased.
If the air speed in the mill is incroasod from 0.3 to 0.7
.m/sec, the consumption of energy even decreases (by 0-5
kwh/ton). A new formula for the productivity of cement mills
has been derived, in which the interior vclume of the mill,

ABSTRACT: A technology was developed for manufacturing very quick-hardening
cement with a hardening strength of 300 kg/cm2 after one day, 450 kg/CM2 after
three days, and 700 kg/cm2 after 28 days. At the Zdolbunov Cement-Slate Plant
the base mixture is made from hard chalk, clay, -and loams, containing a consider-
able quantity of large-crystal quartz; calcining was conducted in rotating furnaces,
118 and 170 m long. The physicochemical properties of the base components were
studied, and the effect of the following factors on the cement strength was analyzed:

components. The reactivity of the base mixtures was found to be low, since 30--
