ABSTRAM The author discusses some problems of surface sediment
origination and changes in climate. Ilia conclusion is
that climate plays a decisive role in the formation of surfa-
ce sediments. A definite combination of genetic types of
sediments and relief shapes, a definite mineralo-petrogra-
phic compositiont and definite physico-meohanical properties
characterize each formation of sedimentas glacial, perigla-
cial, and alluvial (pre-glaoial and post-glacial).
The.groups oi-grounde with similar engineering-geologi-
cal proportion nust be classified on the basis of the study
of their format4l~on and facial peculiarities.

TRANSIATION: A nwmb*r of standard programs are proposed for computing elementary
functions with an accuracy of 5 X 10-5. Taylor series expansions or approxims-
tions of Chaby*shev polynomials are used. All program work with a fixed decimal
and satisfy the requirements of the compiling program. The programs introduced
into the machine by use of the compiling program with an Initial start are dea-
crLbed in detail. As examples of programs of the first type, orograms are
described for converting a nuWmr from decimal t* binary systems and from binary
