ABSTRACT: Cylindrical specimens of steels 10- nd 20 annealext for an hour at 920*C
(steel 10) and 900C (steel 20).were subjected to o -degree plastic deformation and
po lished with the object of Investigating the viechanism of thisIdeformation. It was
established that the formation of shear lines in ferrite grains during the initial
stage of plastic deformatioa is accompanied by the transition of the specimen's
shape from circular to elliptical, It is discovered that in most grains the shear
lines run in the:direction coincidin rns. Plastic de

TEXT: The authors carried out theoreticdl calculations of ultrasonic
velocity in electricity-conducting liquids placed in a magnetic field, taking
into account the thermodynamic and electric properties of these liquids. Calcu-
lations showed that.viscosity and heat conductivity have b'at little effect on the
value of,ultrasonic velocity in a magnetic field as compared with the velocity in
nonviscous and heat-conducting liquids, The effect of electric conductivity was
evaluated. In the experimental part of their work, the authors describe measure-
ments of ultrasonic velocity in mercury and sodium-potassium alloy (67% K) placed
in a strong magnetic field (with induction of 21,000 gauss) at frequencies of
49-R - 752 ke. Measurement results are shown in the form of curves. Measurements

interferometer, the circuit of the HF generator and the measurement block diagram

Title : Accelerated Meadow Formation and the Introduction of Meadow
Crop Rotation on Collective Farms of the Ukrainian EISR.

Abstract: Results are given of experimental studies of the Ukrainian scien-
tific-experimental. agricultural institute and practical data of
many Ukrainian collective farms on improving meadow-pasture pro-
perties. It was shown that the most effective measi;xe is a radi-
cal meadow improvement. Particularly good results axe obtained
by accelerated meadow formation, in which meadow grasses are
sown over a layer of meadow sod, without sawing prelimin ry
annual cultivations. Still more effective is the introduction

ABSTRACT: A study of changes occurring in thermoregulatory mechanisms
of the human system after prolonged and repew-ed exposure to high
temperatures of fairly still air (0.1-- 0.2 m/se---) and at relatively
small humidity (15-20 percent) . An analysis cof gas-exchange data
revealed that the reaction to high temperature differed from one
individual to another; however, certain regular patterns were es-
tablished. In one type of reaction no changes in gas exchange were
observed during a 2-hour exposure to a temperature of 40'C,
whereas in another instance a sharp reduction in oxygen consumption
was noted. On the strength of the data, indicating that no increases
in the rate of gas exchange were observed in the individuals investi-
gated, the authors conclude that the human system is capable of
