Results of vaccinstione and laborstory experiments prove that there are some
differences among BCG vaccines from various countries,, from various laboratories
of the saw country and even among vaccines prepared by the same laboratory.
The differences may be regarbed from different points of view; variation of BCG
strain, various methods of preparlng of vaccIne used by different laboratories,
and changes occurring during storage. Lpphilization, i. a. the drying In high
vacuum from the frozens state, is today the only available method for obtaining
BCG vaccine vith stabilized anj laboratory controlled properties, vith more than
2-yr bife period, and not too sensitive to various physico-chemical factors, the
lyophilized vaccine can be easily distributed over distant districts and in various
climates. Experience vith 1yophIllized BCG vacolne in humans is discussed and
the results of waccinations are presented.
