non scattering. This hypothesis was verified by a direct measurement of the therT.-tal
conduct.,vity of the Bi2Te3 lattice grown with a small excess To or Bi with an admix-
turo of 0.17'u iodine (At). The authors thank Dr. G. I. Gelkov for conducting the

TEXT: Semiconductor resistance thermometers (SRT) are con-
sidered, of high temperature coefficients (6' for 10) and a small
size but requiring individual calibration. Expressions are present
ed for SRT calculations, applicable to various types of SRT. A _4
method of calibration using three points is described and applied
Lo thermistors of the following types: 1.2-IT-4, MT-1 and INT-6. The
accuracy of the method can be increased by using additional check
points. The temperature dependence of the thermistors is presented

solid solutions display a kink in the liuear depender-4e of the additional thermal
realptivity on thd concentration of the second coq@onent. This kink- is attributed
to the accurreace of partial ordering in the layera of tellurium. An &Ualysia of
the ratio of the additional thermal resistivities mries, in the case of all the
solid solutions like the ratio of the differences of the covalent rwUi of the sub@
stituted and substituting Ltoms. - The presence of :partial ordering was confirmed
by x-ray diffraction inveatig&tions of the changes ia the lattice parameters and of

TITLEs Thermal conductivity of crystalline lattice of solid solu-
tions based on bismuth telluride

crystal growth, directional crystallization, thermal conductivity
ABSTRACT: It is pointed out that earlier experiments were made
only at room temperature and failed to allow for the influence of
many extraneous factors. To correct these shortcomings and to in-
crease the number of investigated solid solutions, the authors
measured the thermal conductivity of Bi2Te3 and of solid solutions
on its basis.in the temperature interval 80--120K# The solid solu-

tions investigated were (Di-Sb) 2To 3P Bi2 (Te-Se) V Bi2 (Te-S)V
(Bi-In)2To V (Bi-Sb) 2(Te-se) 3P (Bi-Sb) 2 (Te-S) 3' and Bi 2(Te-Se-S) 3
The Bi2To 3 crystals and the solid solutions were obtained by direc-
tional crystallization from a melt with atoichiometric composition
bf the components. It is shown that if the added compound @rystal-
lizes in the same type of lattice as the host matrix (isomorphic
substitution), then the crystal lattice distortion around the im-
purity atom, and consequently also the- phonon scattering, will be
smaller than in the case of heteromorphic substitution. It is ob-
served also that at low concentration of the introduced second com-
ponent in the solid solutions, the total additional thermal resis-
tance is the sum of the resistances of the individual components*
"The authors thank Ye. D. Devyatkov for a discussion of the results."

ABSTRACT- An analysis of the comparative effectiveness of various mine-
ventilator arrangements. The greatest stabilitv of operat:on arid
highest efficiency is afforded by an arrar44cruent which permits
switching the ventilators to individual, in series, and parallel
-peration depending on changes in the equivalent opening of the mine
shalt and the resistance offered by the ventilation-ftwx route,

ABSTRACT: The most important deposits of' Georeian dolomite for
manufacturing dolomitic refra,@tdries tire those in the Abk-
hazia and thi@ Yugo-osetinskaya oblastf: (the Tkvarcheli,
Bzyba, and tbano deposits). Tsnelisa serpentine was
used as a s.tabilizer during preparation of the dolomitic
bricks. The chemical composItions of the'dolomito and
of the serpentine are given In the Table (in percen@s).
tO seen in the Table, the dolomite contains small quan-
tities of the sosquioxiden and one percent 3102. The
