The authors had under observation 77 patients affected by various allergic skin
diseases (allergic dermatitis, secondary allergization, eczema, urticaria, pruri-
go) and psoriasis, which were treated by post-insulin slight hypoglycaemic states,
Complete cure was obtained in 58 cases, in 8 there was some improvement and
in 11 cases no impt-ovement. The favourable therapeutic effect of the subshocks

was connected with the medium intense hypoglycaernic reaction, which was obtain-
ed by employing every other day from 8 to 35-40 U. of insulin before food intake,
the doses increasing by 2 U. at every injection. The total number of subahocks was
8 to 12. Improvement was particularly discernable in cases of severe itching and
in patients in neurotic condition. The disappearance of inflammation, exudate, and
oedema of the skin was observed objectively. In psoriasis inhibition of fresh crops
was obtained. (XIII, 5)

Abstract: [Authorsv English summary modified] Authors de-
scribe six,casos of priarigo 'with cataract appearing in five
of them. They discuss and review the literature of the mor-
phology, pathogenes-is, and treatment of this disease. They
suggest that the disease is probably more frequent than re-
ported, and that the first lonticular, changes are probably
related to puberty. As prurigo improvos, the cataract be-
comes stationary, or may even regress. There are 29 refer-
ences, of which one (116) is Polish, two (2) Fronch, six (6)
Gorman, and the other!; In English.

ABSTRACT: Investigations were performed in order to establish how tem--
perature and rate of deiormation (D) (the degree of D remaining
constant) affect the progress of recrystallization curves of Cu
and its alloys containing 10 atom---/o Ni and Al. It was estab-
lished that the increase in recrystallizat.lon temperature of Cu
and its alloys is directly proportional to the degree of D; it is
therefore assurned that for each temperature of D there is a

The Effect of Conditions of Preliminary Cold Hardening (cont. )
pointed out that the temperature stability of the cold--hardening of the Gu-base
solid solutions investigated is a function of the nature of the alloy. Compared
with Al, the addition of which tends to reduce the strength of cohesive bond5,
introduction of Ni increases the cohesive forces in the Cu lattice and results
in a greater rate of increase in temperature stability of the work-hardened
regions.

ABSTRACT: In 1957, the foundry of the mashinostroitelinyy zavod im.
Stalina (11.achinebulding Plant imeni Stalin) in 1ilartin, CSR,
successfully experimented in substituting brown coal for
coke in an 800 mm diameter copula furnace, with a two-
stage recuperator of the Khmurny-Tomek system, in which
the gases and the air move in reciprocal perpendicular
direction (fig. 1), The recuperator is described, Data
on the operation of the cupola furnace, with or without
an admixture of brown coal to the charge, are given (table
1)~ The obtained cast iron does not differ from that of
a coke charge and has even less of a sulphur content,
