This is a histological study of ioo carcinomas of the stomach, all frompartial or total
gastrectumy specimens. Four main morphological types were distinguished,
and their clinical symptoms were analysed. It was found that only cancers with
exophytic growth have characteristic clinical leatures. In the other 3 groups no such
conrelation could be demonstrated. (XV1, 5)

ABSTRACT: The mole fraction of sodium ions present in the surface layer of the
MacInnes-Dole glass was determined by the radiochemical tracer method (using 24Na)
and the results vrere-compared with mole fractions calculated from measured values
of electromotive force. The rather good agreement between the mole fractions can
be considered as an experimental proof of the theory proposed by the authors for the

Title Leaf and stem feeding of manganese supplements to agricultural
plants

Abstract It has been showo. experimentally that the needs of truck crops for
manganese sulphate and superphosphate supplements can be satisfied by
having their leaves and stems absorb solutions of these chemical elements
in water. Results of the use of 800 liters per hectare of planted land
of 0.05-0.1% solutions of manganese sulphate, and superphosphate in I :
10 ratio in water, potato yield increased by 59.6% and sugar beet y"eld
increased by 16.8%. Tabulated reports accompanying this article show
the results of the use of this method of feeding of plants which failed
to mature fully in certain soils. Ten tables. Twenty six references,
all USSR.

Abstract : To reduce water-permeability of yuft (to the norms speci-
fied in the GOST) it is inmregnated with acidic acrylic
emulsion A. ImpreLnatinU composition was applied to the
flesh side 2-3 times, intermittently with pressing (after
pre-drying) as well as without pressing. In all instan-
ces the water permeability per hour of pigskin yuft, fol-
lowing impregnation, was of m3-ox4 cm3/cm2, i.e., con-
siderably below the norms of GOST. A procedure has been

worked out for the impregnation of pigskin footwear-yuft
with acidic acrylic emulsion A. The emulsion is brushed
in 2-3 times with intermittent partial dryingr. Thereaf-
ter the leather is pressed, on the flesh side, on s
smooth surface press at 80-900 and pressure not excee-
ding 100 atmospheres. The thus treated leather does not
differ in appearance from the unimprepated leather.

Abstract : The possibility was checked of utilizing syntans PL, PS
and SPS for the tanning of yuft. The experiments were
carried out vith halves of dehaired hides, of which the
controls were tanned in the usual mqnner with oak and
spruce tannins, (T). To tan the experimental halves the
following mixtures were used: 50% oak T and 50% PL;
50% oak T and 50% PS; 50% T and 50% SPS; oak T, 50%
spruce T and 30% SPS. By organoleptic indices the

TEXT: It is shown that photoexcitation (Hg-lamp through UG-11 and BO-12
filters) causes a red luminescence of manganous phthalate. When increasing the
temperature from -112 to 830C, the maximum of the.luminescence band is shifted
from 670 to 600 mp, and the luminescence intensity. decreases by one order.

was used to study the cardiac ri,~cro~jis of rats produced with isoproterenol.
By means of a mathematical-statistical com-,-,arison of the severity index
numbers, obtained with a procedure based on the counting of the morpho-
logical building blocks of the changes, it was concluded that increa--ing
doses of isoproterenol will lead to a develo,,ment of significantly more
severe necroses. The changes are made less severe by amine oxidase in-
hibitors and more severe by reserpine and guanetidine. The method could
be useful for the quantitative evaluation of morphological changes resulting
from various pharmacolol-i-cal experiments. All 26 references are Western,
