ABSTFACT The present report deals with the results of the inTOStigatiOU
of elastic (p-d) scattering as well as of quasielastic (p-p)
cattering on the occasion of the bombardment of deuterons by
7.t 2) MeV protons accelerated by means of the synchroc~dotron
M
of'the Institute for nuclear problems of the Academy of Science
of the USSR.
For these experiments a chamber filled with helius was used as
monitor, and cylindrical aluminum vessels. which we're filled with
equivalent quantities of heavy and ordinary water, served as
targets. The charged particles, were recorded by means of two
telescopes each having three scintillation counters.
From the experimental data obtained here the following results:
At an energy of 660 MaY It was found that, on the occasion of
the collison between a proton and a deuteron, the elementary

The elastic and quasielastiG scattering of 660 MeV Protons by
Deuterons.
nucleon-nucleon interaction between the impinging proton and one
of the nucleons of the deuteron is the principal process. The
observed arose section of the elastic (p-n) scattering in the
0 f
case of a flight direction of the protons of less than 110 kin
the center of mass system of the colliding particles) agrees with
that cross section which was computed in momentum approximation
with the function of the ground state of the deuteron suggested
by Hult6n. The differential cross oetion of the qu&4ielastic
(P-n) scattering into the angle of 900 (in the ceatei",,vf mass
system) decreases slightly with increasing energy. The part of
the cross section connected with interaction in the state T - 0
remains constant in the energy interval of 460 - 660 MeV. The
deuteron scattering which in directed in a forward direction At
energie of UP to 551 MeV indicates that at 660 Hey the collision
between the proton and the deuteron is in some cases reduced to
the interastion among 3 nucleons. This collective interaction
agrees with several other experimental data, but It necessitates

ABSTRACT: Two hundred andnLneteen inver-tivationr, oC the Takata flocculation reaction
were carried out under various conditions: during Gunrise., underground at depthD of
400m and i6oomi, during solar eclipse, after having charged the subject bo4y with a
positive and negative potential., and at altitudes of 4,000 and 12,500n. The investi-
gators were not able to confirm the results or Prof. Takata. In the experiments the
original Takata reaction, of which there are four variations, was used exclusively.
1 ml of blood serum was obtained as prescribed by Takata and diluted in a lphysiologi-
eal solution 1:9 and 2.5 ml of 10% Na,,,CO were added. Over a period of go minutes
the solution was pipetted into 12 test t&es (at 20*C) a-4 then was titrated with the
Takata reagent. The experimental s4bJecte were all young, healthy men in the 18 to
110 7car age bracket. In the verification of the alkali time effect results similar

airports by means of solid carbon dioxide wore studied. The aerial work involved
the use of IL-34 airplanes (fitted with a semi-automatic device ADG-I, in which
