Ab5tractt On the basis of the relationship botwoon tho thormooxidativo
decomposition of acotyl polyformaldohydo and the change of oxygen concontration~
tho authors examine the problem of a reaction mochAnism which may I- con-
sidorod to apply for this prooeas. By means of kinetic measurements they prove
that tho rate of thormooxidativo decomposition varies in direot proportion
with the first power or the oxvgon concentration, whereas the length of the
.inhibitory poriod Is almost Independent of the oxygen concentration. The
'kinetic oquation set up by assuming that the oxidation products formed upon
the aplittIng off of the terminal acotyl group play an active part, is a
good representation of the temporal course of the Inhibited process and was
in harmony with the observations relating to the okfoot of the oxygen
