Abstract: Authors experiments on do-s and cats involved the comparative effects of steroids, Eunarcon, and ster- oids in combination u-Ith drugs containing chlorpromazine. They detail the effect of the steroids on the various cen- ters and reflexes and find, on the ithole, that although independently ineffective for cats, steroids produce in dovs anaesthesia lasting 30--60 minutes, and that.in com- bination with chlorpromazine they produce a powerful anae- sthetic for both cats and dogs, without side effects and with no problems in its intravenous administration. Further work an the subject was continued by the Institute of Physics PAS. The ferrite circulators describecl so far cover a narrow band of 1% to 3%. In the la- boratorios of the Institute of Physics, it was possible to widen the band- width to 7%. The results of the experiments also indicate that the band could be widened even further to 10 - 12%9 The circulator employs ferrite type Ferroxcube 5. It has been observed that the structural uniformity of the ferrite in important and the precision of the mechanics easily influence& the performancog e.g, a deviation of 0.1 mm from the H plane by any of the arms, or the assymetry of 1 of arm spacings. UUCIA, L P/035/61/000/002/003/003 A076/A126 AUTHOR: Lewandowski, Tadeusz, Master TITIE: Pitting criteria of gear tooth surfaces ODICAL: PrzeglgLd Mechaniczny, no. 2, 1961, 59 - 60 TEXT: The author describes and substantiates pitting criteria of gear tooth surfaces, points out the Importance of an accurate definition of pitting criteria during endurance tests and evaluati,on of wear. Two types of pittings are recognized at present, i.e., initial pitting and destructive pitting. Ini- tial pitting is not very dangerous and gears showing it may be in operation for some time before destructive pitting occurs. The proper definition of destruc- tive pitting Is very important. The destructive pitting criteria accepted by en- gineers are not yet supported by practice. As an example, a gear tooth wheel showing 3 pittings, each about 0.001 inch diameter is regarded as useless. This type of criterion is not logical, as only a wheel with a module of m = I mm and rim thickness of b - 8 mm showing 3 pittings of 0.001" in diameter each is use- less; however, in a wheel;,Tith a module of m = 10 mm and a rim thickness of b - 80 mm such 3 pittings are insignificant. The appearance of pitting as shown dur- Card 1/3 Ogg, g_ P1035161100010OV0031003 Pitting ordteria of gear tooth surfaces Ao76/A126 Ing investigations conducted by the author at the CBKO is not abrupt and in the case of a wheel with a 10 mm module it would be wrong to assume that further pit- ting would occur at an increased rate. It is adequate to define destructive pit- ting according to the following method (Fig. 2); 1) The width of pitting xj, X2 and x should be measured along the straight line 1, parallel to the gear rim. 2) ~:ho between the total length of segments to tooth width b should be calculat- vxe ed as S - b (1); 3) The maximum value of 8 should be derived from 81, 82"' values obtained by measurements along various parallel lines 1. The tooth surface Smax should be accepted as a measure of wear. This measure is independent of wheel module, thickness, etc. Smax is any increasing function of the number of cycles n made by the wheel, and Its value is not higher than In or- der that destructive pitting may be ascertained the following actions must be taken into consideration and their forces calculated. Inter-tooth pressure p at constant load and circumference speed are approximat%ly reversely proportional to square root from the width of tooth gear rim b p -- (2), where c is the ratio coefficient. If pitting occurs, the width of 11b the rim decreases by A b - 2xi and pressure increases by Ap and amount to (3). Rel- ative increase of Inter-tooth pressure for Smax is calculated as follows: OLrd RV3 .ngr Tadollszy By 3' 16 f" Z,) rg "Iftl .1 j rul-e phRos t,an%former3- and - 165.
