Khar'kovsk, politekhn. in-ta, 1958, Vol 17, pp 225 - 232 ABSTRACT: The conditions have been investigated for the preparation of raw material in the burning of Satka magnesits-, Pologi kaolin and two raw material cement slimes from Kramatorsk chalk and clay, and from this chalk and blast-furnace slag in rotating furnaces- The following methods for the preparation of raw material for burntng have been studied: in the form of lumps, in the form of wet-ground slime with and without additions, and in the form of a slime which has been de- hydrated by filtration. As additions were used! caustic magnesite, soluble glass, a combined peptizator, soda, sulfite-alcohol slops, MgC'21 laurel-leaf willow (Salix pentandra), py-rite cinders, et,~, It has been established that the wet method of raw material preparation Card 1/2 reduces dust loss and makes it possible to introdwe additions Into th,~ sov/81-59-9-32077 7he Optimum Conditions for the Preparation of Raw Material in the Burning of Re- fractory Materials in Rotating Furnaces slime which reduce the dust loss and the sintering temperature. The introduction of' additions of liquid glass or iron-containing clay into the magnesite slime also reduces dust lose and the sintering temperature of the magnesite. It is pointed out that the magnesite slime can be dehydrated on filters of continuous action. For the dehydration of cement slimes disk vacuum filters with knife skimming are re- commended. Kaolin slime without additions filters vex7 badly. Its filtration rate can be increased twice by heating and introducing MgCl2 additions. It is noted that the application of vacuum filters for the dehydration of magnesite and similar slimes shows a great economy of fuel and increases the output of the rotating furnaces sharp- ly. G.M. TITLE: The Effect of the Enamel Composition on the Mechanical Resistance of Porcelain Insulators PERIODICAL- Tr. Kharlkovsk. politekhn. In-ta, 1958, Vol 18, pp 207 - 210 ABSTRACT- The possibility of increasing the mechanical resistance of insulators was investigated at the Slavyansk Insulator Plant Im. Artem by changing the composition of brown enamel with the molar formulai 0.0156 mno, 0.0733 C60, o.o635 Al 0 0.01136 MgO, 0.0073 Fe 03 4 7131 S102P 0.0213 Cr2o 3' O.Z4'F20 0.0072 Na20. Fhe'fol'lowing oxides were introduced over ~he 100% composition of the enamel: MgO, BaO, Zr~ and T102. The L)-K burning of the insulators was carried out in e tunnel furnace at the plant at 1,3200C. The tensile strength limits were determined on a hydraulic press. The results of the tests show that oxides vary in their effect on the mechanical resistance Card 1/2 of the insulator. For example, Zr02 in all cases increases the 93 6J. S0'1/81-59-5-16254 The Effect of the Enamel Composition on the Mechanical Resistance of Porcelain Insulators mechanical resistance of the samples. BaO and MgO do not have an appreciable effect on increasing the mechanical resistance. T102 shows some increase in the mechanical resistance but the pouring of the enamel. in this case becomes worse. The conference was attended by more than 500 delegates of Councils of National Economy, Ministries and Committees, Works, Power Stations, Construction, Erection, Research and Design Organisations; groups of delegates from agricultural organisations also participated. An exhibition of packaged electrical equipment proved very popular. The advantages of packaged equipment in cutting down erection time and saving skilled labour are explained. A brief review of the manufacture of packaged equipment in the Soviet Union is given. The representative of GOSPIAN USSR, V.S.Tulin, reviewed the main problems in developing and manufacturing Card 1/3 packaged electrical equipment in the period 1959-65. L.M.Kanevskiy reported on the proposed distribution of production of packaged equipment between different factories. Reports on the design of new series of packaged electrical equipment were delivered by V.A.Grachev, V.V.Girshberg and A.A,Goldobenkov. I.R.Klasson described foreign packaged distribution equipment for 220 kV. The following representatives of factories also gave reports: L.S.Shugayev, V.M.Ovcharov, P.P.Burak, B.V.Olendzskiy, V.S.Kindyakov, K.A.Movsesyan, I.N.Shteynberg, A.A.Podushkin, G.F.Edellshteyn, D.S.Itenberg, G.Ya.Kazakevich, V.A.Yuditskiy, L.Z.Arkus, L.K.Greyner .ind others. Investigation in the Field of Development of Formulae and Production Technology of Microporous Rubbers Based on Combined Polymers Y PERIODICAL: Kauchuk i Rezina, 1960, No. 1, pp. 41 - 47 TEM Grafted and block polymers are used in many branches of the industry. In the production of these materials oxygen of the air must be prevented from re - acting with the active centers. The combination of rubbers with synthetic reslns)~ was studied which was carried out with the aim of reducing the specific gravity and Increasing the hardness and wear-resistance of the rubbers. Emulsion polystyrene of the TU 1827-51 type was used as the principal masticator. Polystyrene can be combined with rubber in a uniform way only if It is converted into the viscous- fluid state. The temperature for this conversion was determined on a special de- vice measuring the deformation of the material to be tested. A diagram of the device 15 given. The +r- perature mentioned is 1400C for polystyrene of B type and also for SKS-30 rubber ;n Rubber can be combined with polystyrene by means of rollers or by rubber mixers of the "Werner Pfleidere?, or DK-14 1/2 types. The Card 1/_3 &t!U~ s/138/6o/ooo/o 1/07/~110 Investigation in the Field of Development of Formulae and Production Technology of Microporous Rubbers Based on Combined Polymers fractional composition of polystyrene has a great effect on the condition of com- bination. If the residue on a 02-918 screen Is 50%, the preparation of the master batch lasts 25 min, if It Is only 35% the duration decreases to 15 min. The con- ditions for combining rubber and polystyrene depend on the dispersion of the latter and the temperature of Its transition Into the viscous-fluid state. Free access of oxygen during processing of the master batch reduces the resiritance, the'specific elongation and the hardness of the vulcanized batches. The optimum polystyrene dose for mixtures containing _r0% of rubber Is 20-30 weight parts per 100 weight parts of rubber. The low content of fillers (12-13% based on the mixture) in light rubbers makes their calendering difficult, Butadiene-styrene rubber is Introduced, therefore, with natural rubber. The optimum ratio for this purpose is 30% SKS-30 and 20% natural rubber, if the total rubber content In The mixture is 50%. For ensuring a specific elongation of 220-240%, the plasticity of the rubbers used must be kept at 0.30-0.40 for SKS-30 and at 0.40-0.45 for natural rubber. The total amount of softeners (colophony and vaseline) is 6-8% based on the mixture. Rubbers of the "progress" type contain a large dose of pore-forming agent: the Card 2/3 805" S/138/60/000/0 1/07/0 Investigation in the Field of Development of Formulae and Production Technology o' Microporous Rubbers Based on Combined Polymers porophore ChKhZ-5 (UP t.c. 5% based on the mixture). The porophore can cause scorching of the rubber. A uniform and fine porosity Increases the service time of the rubber products.
