The fracture occurred in a girl 14 yr. old by avulsion from a sudden movement
during gymnastic exercise. Conservative treatment failed and it became necessary
to remove the isolated tuberosity 7 weeks after the accident. Clinical and X-ray
control 7.5 yr. later showed the maintenance of the excellent result. Conservative
treatment is recommended in recent cases and surgical removal in bony union in

TEXT: The partial substitution of coke by coal for clinker firing in
shaft furnaces was investigated. Coal with the lowest possible content
of volatile components (10 - 12 ~6) was chosen. Half the coke used was
gradually replaced by coal. The fuel consumption decreased and the CO
content of the waste gases decreased from 3 - 5 to 0-5 - 1 % without
deterioration of clinker quality. The CO content of the waste gases is
proportional to the specific surface of the fuel; substitution of part
of the coke by coal decreases the specific surface of the fuel. Furnace
performance increases,by r-j1O %. To ensure'a stable furnace operation
with mixed fuel, most of the fuel should measure 2 - 7 mm. The replace-
ment of clay by blaot-furnace slag in the raw materials was invea
tigated.

This increases the efficiency of crushing and grinding equipment, and the
granulation of the raw material is considerably improved. A third
component - pyritic cinders - must be added to the raw material. The
quantity of water required for granulation was not decreased. The clinker,
is more difficult to fire (as the result of increased pulverization of
the granules) and to grind, but it is strong. On addition of 50 % of
slag and 5 % of gypsum the strength after 28 days was 475 kg/cm2. I

perature on the magnetic properties of nickel films,
obtained by a chemical method

TEXT: The aim of this viork was to see whether the composition and
the temperature of an electrolytic bath influences the magnetic
properties of electro lytic Ni films. The electrolyte r/ 1-18
completely changed every*5 minutes to ensure a constant conposition
during electrolysis. Magnetic properties of the deposited films
were measured by hysteresis curves on an ~0-7 (BO-7) oscillograph'
at room temperature. Changes in the MiSO 4 concentration.in the elec-
trolyte-produded changes in the shapes and sizes of the hysteresis
curves for the corresponding Ni films. T 'he saturation of these
films increases with rining NiSO 4 content in the electrolyte, up to.

mical protection of the acorn crop are warranted when the
fruit-bearing is appraised by not less than three points

Abstract : Experiments were conducted in 1953 at four experimental
stations and fifteen forest kolkhozes. Pines planted in
1949 when dusted with WCH dust were preserved in quanti-
ties lj-3 times larger than control Pines till 1953- When
the soil was left fallow, priming with HCCH dust did not
always produce good results. A considerable decrease of
the outlay of DDT and HCCH Is possible in all methods.

(80-170 kg/hectare) decreased the larvae population only
by 68-70%.
