The regulator consists of a series con- ne,eted input transformer, a first amplifier stage, a limiter and a second ar*lifier stage, with negative feedback between the first and U 1-1 second ampilifier stages, consisting of the amplifier and a flexible feedback element. The latter is in the form of a half-wave demodu- lator of the amplified output voltage. The output has six identical output terminals, which makes it possible for I to 12 subsidiary regulators, with*input impedances not less than 200 ohms each, to be connected to the correcting regulator. Assumptions: time for one block test - ti, time for total system test - t, ti is independent of order of tests, faulty block instantly replaced. The concepts of dynamic programming were applied to find the optimum test procedure to obtain a minin-m se -ching time. To applLthe results, the blocks have to be renumbered as followss all t2 irl" 4 Ili 4... 9 6- 13-E (where pi - probability that block i is defective). In the first case all blocks should be checked in an arbitrary ordert and then the whole system should be checked. In the second and third cases (third case can be included in the discussion by using a "zero" block to - 0, Po / 0 and setting m - 0) the first m blocks are checked without a system checkt regardless of whether faults are found or not. After this a system check isl performed. If it is negative blocks m + it m + 2 ... are checked, but a system check is used every time a fault is found. V.0-10scoW) TITLE: Optimal procedure for locating a defect in a modular RF electronic system SOURCE: AN SSSR. Izvestiya. Tekhnicheskaya kibernetika, no. 4, 1964, 19-26 TOPIC TAGS: defect localization, module system, module system checking, module system defect, RF electronic system, automatic system testing ABSTRACT: The paper considers the problem of locating a single (permanent or intermittent) defect in an RF electronic system consisting of independent "modules". A graphoanalytic procedure for checking such a system which minimizes the mean time necessary to locate the module which failed is developed by analyzing a mathematical model containing (1, 2, ..., n) unre- liable modules and assumed to be operable only when all the modules are operational. A failure of the system is assumed to be detected instantane- ously. It is also assumed that dependent failures can only take place within one module. Thus, the system fails when one of its modules becomes defective. As an example, this procedure is applied to a system consisting of five C.,d 1/2 ACCESSION NR: AP4044819 modules. The paper also considers the case when the system failure is not definitely known. Then, the optimal sequence of checking the modules depends sitbstantially on the probability of detecting an intermittent failure in a single test. The results obtained can be used directly for programming automatic testing devices. The graphoanalytic method proposed permits con- struction of an optimal procedure for testing a system with almost no computa- tions. Orig. art. has: 40 formulas, 1 figure and 1 table. The r-radiation was measured on synthetic mixtures. These were prepared in the form of powdered samples or uranium oxide (in equilibrium with .uxi + ux 2), radium (in equilibrium with Rn and its decay products), and RaD (in equilibrium with RaB) under conditions that were close to thospe of the natural occurrence of ores. Two models of "satura- ---ted volume"'orebodies were used in the latter case; one was filled Card 112 S'/169/62/000/009/064/120 Gamma-radiation of ... D228/D307 with a mixture of nonradioactivel~rock and uranium oxide, the other being filled with-a mixture of t4e same rock and radium salt. As a result of experimental work, cari~ied`out with scintillation equip- ment and' (-fr--q (MS-4) type gas-dis6haz~ge counters, it was established that the share of uranium r-radiation in the total radiation of elements of the uranium-radium equilibrium series depends strongly on both the properties of the measuring equipment being used and th'e ore's chemical composition (the value of zeff)l and also on the error of the radiochemical and chemical analyses, which reaches 15 - 20% if the uranium concentration is low. For naturally occur- ring uranium ores the share of uranium r-radiation in the total ra- diation amounts to 3 + 0.6%. It was established that there is prac- tically no uranium r-Fadiation in the region of energies above 450 -500 kev. The' data obtained by the authors allow the conclu- Bion to be drawn that under natural conditions, when the radioac- tive equilibrium between uranium and radium shifts abruptly to the side of excess uranium, there are practical possibilities for di- rectly determining the uranium content from the form of.its r-ra- diation differential spectra,/-Abotrapter's notetCompleto tranela- Gard 2/2 tion--7 3/169/62/000/009/068/120 D228/D307 AUTHORS: Ivashchenko, T. Therefore, the authors have used a pro- portional counter. The counter of a 34 mm diameter and 200 mm length was filled with xenon at 2 atmospheres. The anode was a tungsten 0.1 mm wire. The cathode was a 1 = thick steel cylinder. The counter was screened with aluminum. To simu.- late theore in natural condition, 80 kgm. of ore were used in iron containers of 330 mm in length and 430 mm in diameter. The apparent spectra were continuous with a maximum at about 25-30 keV. The authors explain this by the multiple scattering in the specimen and by a maximum efficiency of the scintillation counter in the mentioned region. The authors conclude that the proportional counter can be used in geological survey because of their selective sensitivity. Equipped with a Card 1/2 VV ................. The unit consists of a housing and a lead shield with collimati'on channels at an angle. A primary gamma source and x-ray detector are located in these chan- nels. X-radiation Is recorded in ore and rock deposits under natural conditions through a window in the housing made of a material with a low atomic number located at the vertex of the angle formed by the collimation channels.
