TITLE: Separation of the Mixtures Carbon Dioxide and Ammonia With Aqueous Solutions of Monoo-thanol Amines (Razdeleniye smesey dvuokisi ugleroda i ammiaka vodnymi rastvorami monoetanolamina) PERIODICALi Khimicheskaya promyshlennost', 1958, Nr 7, pp 423-429 (USSR) A-BSTRACT: V. S. Sveshnikova, M. Ya., Futoryanskaya, A. N., Mukhina, R. Y9., Kirindasova and 14. D. Mantrova took part in this work. To devise a recirculation scheme of a selective C02-absorption in aqueous monoethanol amine (MZA) sGlutions in the (Ref 1) urea synthesis data on the solubility and solution kinetics of the ammonia - carbon dioxide mixtures must be known. As there are no such data available in publications the authors carried out corresponding experiments. The phase equilibrium in tht- system MEA-NH 3- C02-H2(j was investigated according to the dynamic method. Thearrangement and method employed were taken from the paper by D. S. Tsiklis and A. N. Kofman (Ref 2). The partial pressure Of C02 decreases Card 113 (thp soil.ihility increases) wifh the incr(--ase of the NH-@ content 5eparation of the Mixtures Carbon Dioxide and Ammonia SGV/64-f@-'-10/16 With Aoueous Solutions of 11.1onceltanol Ami, nes in the s-)1ution. The partial pressure of NHz is a linear function of the '02-concentration. According to the diagrams lgP the Icluti-)n heat -)' '11'3 and ':',02 were calculated. As :!Dmpared to thp solubilities in pure water it was found that by the presen@,e of MEA the solubility of C02 increases and that of NH3 decreases. Under certain conditions the partial pressure of C09 can drop to zero whereas (under the same conditions) that of DIH3 attains considerable values. In a schematically shown arrangement the influence exerted by some factors upon the absorptior@ degree of NH3 was "vestigated. At a complete C02- absorption the absorption degree of NH3 decreases with the increase in temperature, the increase of the MEA concentration, a decrease of' the intensity of moistening and an increase of the m-DIar ratio NH@ : C02 in the gas mixture. In the experiments on the t"13 desorp AJon the authors worked with steam besides an inert gas in a roll-imn suggested (Figure) by the Dzerzhinskiy filial @;IAP (Dzerzhinskiy Branch of the GIAP). The viscosities of the MKA solutions with C02 and N-Hi were determined in a V i @3 (,, 0 S 4 Card 2/3 meter according to Pinkevich.)At a constant C02-content Separation of the Ifixtures Carbon Dioxide and Ammonia scv,,,'64-:-',8-7-10/--'-' With Aqueous Solutions of Moneethanol Amines the viscosity is practically independent of the NH7- concentration, whereas at a constant NH3-content the viscoslt'y of the solutions increases considerably with the increase of the C02-concentration. Based on the results obtained a scheme for the separation of NH3 and C02 from distillation gase3 according to the urea synthesis is given. There are 14 fig-ures, 4 tables, and 5 references, 3 of which arp Soviet. Card 3/3 ;,ccE.;sic,,,; m: AP4-034713 S/0064 / 64 /GGQ/ 004/0244 /02 48 AWHOR: Iovi, A; Torocheahnikov, N. The reacLion mechani I Ci@cm.) 26, No. 9, 3304 (1961)) was substantiated. The rapid preamire cirop in Lile f' .rGt 10 md-nutes of reaction was attributed to solution of CO and formalion of urea ard ar=onium hydrosulfide; after reaction was establiGned, Uie presGure rise was attributed to H2S formation. The yield of urea increazed az temperawre increased from 90 to 120C, then progressively decreased at hi6ber temperatures due to isocyanuric acid decomposition.
