Automated welding on a sa:Lient work surface
Svarochnoye proizvodstvo,no. 11, 1962, 31 - 32
Tly{T: An experimental investigal;ion was made of automated argon-arc weld-
ing wj.th a ncn-consumable electrode on a salient surface ;~;ith a low radius of
curvature. t~telding in such a case ~.s only possible :If the inclination angle of
the electrode will be varied by the torch. It must also ~be taken into account
that; the motion of the electrode and of the welding machine carriage are diffe-
rent, and that therefore the welding s~-eed is greater on a curved than on a
straight section. An attachment for the automatic A,~C n -1 M {ADSV-1M) machine
was developed with a duplicating rol? connected to the welding torch and a spe-
cial pickup. The torah can be brrught into a perpendicular position to the e3ur-
face and the electrode is automatically maintained along, thQ normal toward the
welding surface. The arc length remains constant, and the spaed of the toroth
