The Lower Paleozoic system is represented by weakly metamorphosed sedimentary rocks of Cambrian an0O0 m. Ordovician ages. This gave rise to the start of a large-scale survey throughout the Great Karatau region. The author began the study of Proterozoic and Lower-Paleozoic Stratigraphy of that region in 1953. At first, survey-mapping work (employing a scale of 1:50,000) was carried out in the north-western Kar~~tau by the South- Kazakhstan expedition of the scientific research section of the Moscow Geologic-Surveying Institute. During the years 1955 and 1956, the entire Groat Karatau !xas subjected to thematic explanations, which were headad Yiy N.I. Nikolayev. AN LitSSR, 1957, Vol $, Nr 4, pp 143-150 ABSTRACT: Methods are set forth and results are submitted for an experi- rnental investigation of the heat transmission of a ten-row "corridor"-type tube bank with S/d=2 to a transverse flaw of air 2ind water. The investigations, which were performed for various clirectians of the heat flux and temperature gradient, comprised 2i .Reynolds-number interval. from 3x103 to 2x:105, It is estal7 lished that the dependence of the heat transmission an the direc- tion of the heat flux and the temperature gradient can be accounted for by the ratio P~~P to the 0, 25 pawer.
