tope I."
Budapest, Honvedorvos, Vol XV, No 3, July-Sept 1963, pages 234-242.
Abstract: CAuthors' Hungarian summary] The blood volume of 40 rabbits has
been determined by the use of various radjo@Lctive isotope techniques. Some
of the tests have been carried out i-rith I131-labelled plasma proteins. The
blood volume, calculated from the plasma volume by use of the hematocrit
value, was found to be 6.65 * 0.18 peer cent of the body weight. The total
nf erythrocytes has been determined with P32. The blood volume, based
- P-l"d to be 6.50 0.51 per cent of the body weight.

Budapest, Honvedorvos, Vol XVIII. No 2, Apr-Jun 66, pages 117-126.
Abstract: [Authors' Hunvarian summary] In normal mice, a considerable por-
tion of the i.v.-administered, radioactive 59Fe isotope is incorporated in-
to the erythrocytes and appears in the circulation in about 72 hours. The
rest of the radioactive iron is taken up mainly by the stora-e organs -
bone marrow, liver and spleen. When the iron isotope is administered 24
hours after irradiation, the extent of erythrocyte labelling is decreased
in inverse proportion to the dose used for irradiation althou,7h the rate

confi @d sarcoldosis, ihe lymphatic system of both lower extrpmities was
filled with a 38 per cent solution of Lipidol U.F. contrast material. It
was found that, in a&Ation to the thoracic changes, the majority of patients
in the 1. and II. clinical stage of the disease showed si;-,ns of involvement
of the inguinal, pelvic and paraaortic lymph nodes as well. This served as
proof of the earlier hypothesis that sarcoidosis is a systemic disease of
the lymphoreticular system. Simultaneously with the recovery of the thoracic

Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary modified] On the basis of lymphographic
studies on 12 patients, it was concluded that thoracic !3arcoidosis, in th-
casEs observed, represents a partial symptom of a systemic disease in
considerable enlargement of the lymph nodes in the inquinal ref-ion c,it
be demonstrated. In 7 cases, biopsy of the superficial lymph nodes of the
latter reFion was performed; a histological finding indicative of sarcoidosis
was obtained in 4 cases (mostly from almond to plum-sized nodes). In 5 cases
of the disease (not confirmed by lymphography), the routin(-- biopsy from.
pea-bean sized inguinal nodes was neCative while in 3 cases, involvin.- some-
what larger lymph nodes, the pos-,ibility of early chan-es due to sarcoidosis
was raised. Biopsy from this region appears to be useful in the presence of
rather greatly enlarged lymph nodes. The histological findini-:s in tissup from

[Authors' Hungarian summary] A literature survey is presented on
pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) followed by the discussion of a case.
Clinical and laborator, J.
y studies failed to yield a diagnosis. Lung biopsy was
performed and the presence of PAP was confirmed by a histological evaluation.
EXamination of the sputum was also of diagnostic value since, in addition to
?AS-positive, cell-lLrep,granulated material, it also contained bodies of
lamellar and granular structure resembling corous amylaceum. The patient's
anamnesis, his occupational history, the sympt@ms, the clinical appearance
of the disease and the histolo.o-ical picture correspond, in all their major
c'iaracteristics, to D lmonary alveolar proteinosis as described by Rosen et
