ABSTRACT: The authors investigated the absorption spectra (290-1100 UY4 of
crystalline hydrates of praseodymium, neodymium, samarium and erbium per-
chlorates in.-.nonaqueous acetic acid, acetic anhydride, acetone and'pyridine
solutions (0.1-0.2 M), as well as the interaction of rare elements of the
cerium group with o-hydroxyquinoline in these solvents. Spectrophotometric
measurements on praseodymium, erbium and samarium,perchlorates showed a small

shift on the order of 1-3 my only in pyridine, into the long-wave region for
the first two and into the short-wave region for samarium. Neodymium showed
a shift to the short-wave region in solutions of acetone and pyridine and into
the long-wave region in solutions of acetic acid and acetic anhydride, when
compared to water. The interaction of these perchlorates with o-hydroxy-
quinoline in acetone, pyridine and acetic acid produced an increase in ab

tion and a shift of the absorption band into the long-wave region. The shift;
observed was from 400-500ull to 400-540 mp, indicating not just an additive
effect but an interaction of the compounds. During the study of complex
formation between neodymium perchlorate and o-hydroxyquinoline in acetone
I' solution, by the method of isomolar series, it.was found that if the ratio
of Nd:Ox - 2:3, a bright yellow precipitate was formed, which could be dis-
solved by shaking. If the ratio of Nd:Ox = 3:7 or 1:4, the amount of pre-
cipitate was increasedbut it still disappeared with shaking. At a ratio of 1:9
the precipitate did not dissolve. At*Nd:Ox ratios of 2:3, 3:7 or 1!4, an
ncreased shift of the absorption maxizm was Aserved. oualitative analysis,@
C@: ".-'e precipitate showed that it corresponds to [NdOx2OxHJC104 where OxH
and Ox- are a molecule and an ion of o-hydroxyquinoline, respectively.

ABSTRACT: The molecular generator developed in recent jears is often
applied as a source of oscillations which are very stable
in frequency. Its phugoid motions, in particular the behavior
of oscillation during the interference of an external force,
however, are little known, since the investigations are con-
nected with great mathematical difficulties. For large
amplitudes of the external force the process of the drift is
connected with asynchronous cancellation of the phugoid
motions by the forced oscillationsv whereby the amplitude of
these oscillations increases with the approximation of the
frequency of the external force to the frequency of the
phugoid mot-ion. By approximation of the total process and by
averaging the occurring magnitudes the authors obtain some at
least qualitatively interesting expressions and then in-

vestigate the stability of the obtained approximative
solutions. It is stated that for certain characteristic
values there takes place a self-excitation of the phugoid

ABSTRACT: The article is devoted to the theoretical analysis
of the behaviour of two loosely coupled molecular
generators within the range of synchronism and out-
side of it. The authors eStRblish relation for the
synchronizatlon band width, which are suitable for
practical evaluations. According to their calcula-
tions, jumps of the synchronous frequency may take
place, when the frequency of both molecular genera-
tors is close to the frequency of the molecular tran-
sition into the system, if the parameters are chang-
