ABSTRACT: Phanylsolenochloride reacts smoothly with trialkyl phospLtes in
inert solvents at lotr temperature according to the Arbuzov rearrangemc"t,
forming 0,0-dia3Jcyl-Se-phenyl-phosphates. 0,0-Diethyl-So-butylphosphato and
0,0-dimethyl-Se-butyl-phosphate were produced by reaction of n-butylsolano-
cyanato with dialkylphosphorous acids. 010-Dimethyl-So-butylphosphate Vas
also produced by reaction of trimethyl phosphite with n-butylsolenocynnate.
The infrared and ultraviolet absorption spectra indicate conjugation of the
unsharod p-electrons of the aclenium atom with tho pi-electron shoU of the
benzene ring. The atomic refraction of selenim in 0,0-dialkyl-Se-phenyl,.

had no sulphide sulphur. The latter S was predominant in tlie
last silica gel fractions. Oxi(!ation stability of' t,,c- -r-ict,.ons
and their i-.-iixtures was determined by oxygen absorption in 11 closed
system. It was fouxid that the inhibiting action of the aromatic
fractions of the distillate increases with their refractive j-ndex
and reaches a :,,ia:cir-,,.u.,n for the penultimate, fraction. For the
oils D-219 and D-105, the last fraction had the strongest
inhibiting action. In the latter oil, hoi,,rever, the last
fraction was not such a good inhibitor as the fraction from oil
D-89. There are 3 tables and 4 figures.

neck on the left, 4 years later the same Injury on the right and,after
another year, a pertrochanteric fracture on the left was sustained by
a 57 year old woman patient with Parkinson's disease. On the basis of
the clinical features, the radiological examination and venographic studies,
the transient importance of the vessel of the ligamentum teres is pointed
out,on one hand, and new data are presented to verify the identical ten-
dencies of healing in the case of bilateral fractures of the femoral neck,
on the other hand. Finally, on the basis of the course of recovery of the
fractures, nailing of the femoral neck is recommended in the case of
Parkinson's disease as well. It is considered to be important, however,
that the intervention be accompanied by a primar7 Voss operation.

Abstracti [Authors' English sunuaary modifted] By the use of monolayer
cultures, cytopathological virus strains could be isolated in only four
out of 28 herds of cattle showirq, s7mptomq of virus diarrhea. The isolated
virus strains were proven to be identical with each other a-nd with the
Oregon C24V virus on cross virus neutralization tests. The lesions pro-
duced by the viruses were identical as well. ECBO and bovine adenovirus
were also isolated from fecal samples of the diseased cattle. no results
of the investigation indicate that the etiological agent of the disease
in Hungary is identical with the strain Oregon C24V virus isolated in the
USA. The possibility, however, that gerologically and 11mune-biologically
identical, non-cy-topathogenic strains vay also 'play a role in the aticlogy

TEXT: The aim of the investigation under review was the determination of the
factors of the partial rate f in the hydrogen isotopic exchange of the sub-
stances mentioned in the title with the reagents likewise mentioned in the
title. The synthesis of monodauterated hydrocarbons, the deuterium concentra-
tion in water on combustion of the hydrocarbonal and the carrying out of ex-
periments are described. The rate constant of the deuterium exchange is cal-
culated by an equation and, when using ammoniacal solutions, by a simplified
form of this equation. The results of the measurements made with liquid HBr
are given in table 1, those of the experiments with -moniacal solutions in
table 2, and the mean values of the constants of the deuterium exchange rate

in table 3. The activation energy of deuterium exchange is also given. Table 4
presents the factors of the partial rate f of the deuterium exchange of iso-
meric monodeuterated hydrocarbons with a ENH 2 solution in NH 3' and with HBr.
The order of the partial rate factors in the isotopic exchange between non-
equivalent deuterium atoms in the toluene and diphenyl molecule differs in re-
actions with acids and with lyes, which is due to the different mechanism of
these reactions in which the conjugative and the inductive effect considerably 60
manifest themselves in the mutual action of the atoms in the hydrocarbon mole-
cule. The rules in the deuterium exchange in toluene and diphenyl indicate that
the inductive effect of the methyl group has the reverse sign compared to that
of the phenyl group. Finally, it can be said that the acid and the base react
in the deuterium exchange with the carbon atoms of the CH-bonds and the base
with the hydrogen atoms of the CH-bonds, and protonize these atoms. A method
is described for obtaining isomeric monodeutero-diphenyls. It is described
exactly how the authors divided this work among themselves. There are 4 tables
and 19 references, 12 of which are Soviet.

2,3-dimethylbutadiene-1,3; hexadiene-2,4; 2,5-dimethylhexadiene-2,11
and a-methylatyrene. Theexperiments were conducted at 250C with
0-05N KNH2 in liquid N03- In all cases low molecular polymers
were formed and separated from solution. It was found that
H atoms in the methyl groups in allyl position in respect to
double bonds exchange for D more rapidly than the H atoms next *to
double bonds. For a-methylstyrene in 0.02N KNH2 the hydrogen
exchange proceeds ra@idly, the rate constant K being about
1.2 + 0.1 x 10-3sec- . This rate of H exchange is faster than
that in the methyl group in propylene and a little slower than that
in the methyl group in toluene. The main role in the polymerizatim
of a-methyletyrene is played by the processes connected with proton

transfer, in contrast to the polymerization of styrene. This is
confirmed by the high content of N (1.4%) in polystyrene compared
with that in poly a-mathylstyrene (o.iW. It is expected that
similar differences in the mechanism of polymerization exist
between methylated dienes and butadiene. There are 2 tables.

ABSTRACT: One of the districts where orography exerts an important
influence on the formation and development of cyclosis is
the galf of GenGa (Geziuezskiy zaliv). The cyclones formed
there bring about considerable precipitations at the southern
slopes of the Alps (Allpy)q including the bordering areas
of Yugoslavia. A situation as the following one is typical
there: (Ref 2): A high-pressure valley (vysotnaya lozhbina)
is direoted from the north to the western part of the Medi-
terranean (Sredizemnoye more). Cold air masses enter North
Africa from the western Mediterranean areasp on the other
hand the warm air from Africa expands at the front of the
mentioned valley over the Balkan peninsula (Balkanskiy polu-
ostrov) to Central Europe (Tsentrallnaya Yevropa). The pres-

west current forms above the warm southwest current; with
this cold current the cold air apparently expands which ear-
lier entered North Africa. By the cooling of the upper layers
of the warm southwest current the air at the front of the
pressure valley gains a more and more unstable stratification.
The instability of the air is relieved first of all at great
orographic hindrances where precipitations occur. The more
the pressure v%1ley moves eastwaj,-d the more the air at its
front is cooled. Therefore the precipitations in the moun-
tains are increased and become very heavy. Such precipita-
tions at the Snezhnik massif in the Julian Alps (Yuliyakie)
reach 32o mm per day and 4000 mm per year. There the mention-
ed cold air masses meet the warm adr masses from the Balkan.
The formation of precipitations is accompar-ied by the forma-
tion of a low pressure zone in the gulf of Genoa; it then
moves throvZh northern Italy to the Adriatic. This is the so-
-called Genoese cyclone. If a current of stable stratified
warm air is observed in the area of the Alps the formation
of the Genoa cyolone does not take place. In such a case a
high pressure wave exists south of the Alps while north of

through the passes of the Alps or goes around them through

he one valley or the Vienna basino In this case precipi-
tatIons occur only at the southern slopes of the Swiss Alps.
The Julian Alps remain dry. When the air stratification be-
comes more unstable the air stops going around the Alps and
starts to pass the mountain chains. Then the raising of the
air masees is no longer force&, but develops by itmlf the
pressure field increases and south of the Alps instead of
the high pressure wave the Genoa cyclone is formed. Further-
more the author analyzes the above mentioned phenomena by
