I., Candidate of Technical Sciences; Ed.: Kotlyar, Ya.M., Candidate of Technical Sciences; Ed. of Publishing House: Bogamolova, M.F.; Tech. Ed.: Rozhin, V. P.; Managing Ed.: Sokolov, A. I.,, Engineer. PURPOSE: The book is intended for students of advanced courses at aeronautical institutes and will be useful also to engineers and technicians in factories, design offices, and scientific-research institutes. COVERAGE: The fundamental problems of experimental aerodynamics are discussed. The book considers consecutively the physical properties of the air, the fundamental theories of airflow, the laws of aerodynamic similitude, methods of measuring aerodynamic forces,, moments, pressures and flaw velocities, the aerodynamic characteristics of wings and of complete airplanes. The book was written in accordance with the program approved for aeronautical carA-*kle- Experimental Aerodynamics 710 institutes by the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR. Certain sections of the b-:)ok have been developed primarily with a view to facilitate self-study of the material. The author thanks V. I. Putyata, Candidate of Technical Sciences, and Ye. K. Fedorov, Docent., for their review of the present edition, and Y. M. Kotlyar for valuable editing advice. There are 18 Soviet references, including 5 translations. TITLE: Application of aerophotogeodetic methods to projecting canals of a drainage network PERIODICALI Referativnyy zhurnal, Geodeziya, no. 2, 1963, 20, abstract 2.52.144 ("Tr. Mosk. in-ta inzh. zemleustroystva", 1962, no. 16, 3 - 13) TEXT- The author proposes to conduct aerial photosurvey on scales 1:5,000 - 1:10,000 at f k = 70 or 55 mm for projecting the canals of a drainage network. Each stereopair is secured by six double points, or the point heights are taken from maps of the 1:25,000 - 1:50,000 scale. The canals are projected on a topographic stereometer after orientation of photographs with an error up to AP-05 - 0.06 mm. In plotting lengthwise profiles of canals on the topographic stereometer, longitudinal parallaxes of characteristic points are measured, and their elevations are calculated. The values of adjustment elements of the stereometer are calculated from the differences between the geodetic and photo- grammetric heights of reference points, aand corresponding corrections are in- Card 1/2 3/270/63/000/002,/008/02~ 'Application of aerophotogeodetic methods to ... It checks 11 different functions. There is I diagram, Card 1/1 MARTYNOV. A.V. Weakly contimious semigroups of operators. Trudy Sem.po funk. anal. 4,1 no. 3/4:103-,114 160. M. , Gostopgizdat, 1963, 229-233 TOPIC TAGS: gas pressure, vortex tube, gas throttling, Bank Hilach effect :TRANSLATION: Theoretically investigates work of a vortex tube (vortex refrigerator) I 41n the region of high gas pressures. Clarifies influence of the throtting effect on ,temperature charaiteristica of a vortex tube. Shows that with an initial pressure, of up to 6 ata (&bs) with accuracy sufficimit, for practical calculations it ia possible to dieregard influence of throttling of gas on the vortex effect. How- ever with increase of initial pressure from a definite moment Use influence of trattling baccows practically noticeable. Therefore for gases,, ha".apocitive Car. .11113 F_ kCCESSION NR: AR4042226 Jbule-Thoogon effect faf>o), the temperature effect with respect to a cold flow (ATc = T, - TO increases, and the temperature eff ect of a hot flow (4Th - Th - TI) decreases. Thus., for methane, with increase of initial pressure from 6 to 146 atm (abs), Oc correspondingly increases from-350 to-600 ( in the share of cold flow x = 0.5). Here ATh simultaneously decreases from -34u to 00. Thus, with a value of #s amal-ler than a certain magnitude, the magnitude ATh has a negative value, that is, the hot flow not only is not heated, but, to the contrary, is cooled. For gases having at normal temperature a negative Joule-Thomson effect (hydrogen, helium), throttling decreases the magnitude ATc and increases,&Th. Issuning that with a subcritical and critical pressure drop expiration of gas .'.um the nozzle of the vortex tube occurs with transonic or sonic speed, that liatribution of tangential speeds of flow in the nozzle section is C1036 to the -aw of revolution of a solid body, and that distribution of thermodynamic tempera- %we in this section satisfies the law T = idem, the authors obtain a formula by hich, with accuracy necesaar7 for practical calculationsp one can determine the agnitude of the taisperature effectATO of a vortex tube A(V*+()2) ATO - AT1 + ATt 2pp, Card 1 2/3 11ACCESSION NIR: AR4042226 twhere ATI is lowering of temperature with isentropic expansion of gas from initial ssure to pk, ATt is lowering of temperature due to further throttling to p to, Us are, correspondingly, the mean values of tangential and axial speeds o? V cold flow. It is noted that values of the Rank-Hilach temperature effect, obtained from this formula, sufficiently well coincide with experimental data both at low, land Also at-high gas pressures. There is conducted thermodvnamic comnariaon of ,three processes of expansion of gas (throttling, expansion in vortex tube and lexpension in a compressed gas machine). Shows that throttling in all cases is Ithe least effective process. A vortex tube in efficiency is between the throttle and the compressed gas machine, it io 2.5 times as effective as the throttle. Notes that an essential a8vantage of vortex expansion before throttling is the fact that a vartex tube allows one to obtain, without application of machines, significant cooling of gases with a negative Joule-Thomson effect (hydrogen, helium). The greatest cooling of these gases can be reached with high initial pressures, using cascade expansion. Bibliography: 8 references.
