In order to compare Czechoslovak and some foreign antityphoid vaccines, mouse-
protective potency assays were made. On analyBing these tests a direct relationship
was found between the titre of Vi agglutinins; and the vaccine protection index. kn
argument for the universal validity of this phenomenon was obtained by a comparison
of the spectra of antibodies in rabbit and human sera. This is why vaccines of
high Vi agglutinin production, L. e. alcohol and acetone killed, should be recom-
mended as the most effective.
