Blectrophoretic Investigation of Phospholipase C

of the enzyme of Cl. oedematiens was at least 100-fold weaker. The
results of the electrophoretic fractionating are recorded graphic-
ally on tables I - 3, From the obtained results it follows# 1.) Phcs
pholipase C of the Varshavakiy-preparations behave like an eleotro-
phoretio homogeneous block with a mobility approximated to zero
(at PH 8,6). The ferment of the Moscow preparations is aleotro-
phoretically heterogeneous. 2.) Phospholipase C of the Varshavskiy
preparations after an electrophoretic fractionating entirely re-
tain their original activity (in dissolved state). The enzyme of
the Moscow preparations in tile course of the experiment renders
inactive (UP to 70 % at TF-2). 3.) At fractional distillation of
the Varshavskiy preparations a 26-fold cleansing of the isoelec-
tric form of the phospholipase C with 50 % of the yield (referred
to the total activity of the electrophoretically treated prepara-
tions) was obtained. At the occa3ion of such a fractionating of
the Moscow preparations, previously cleansed 5 times by ethanol
fractionating, a 18,5-fold total cleansing of the isoolectric form
of the enzyme (with a yield of only 1,5 %) was obtainedl the same
succeeded for the negatively charged form of the ferment with an
electrophoretic mobility near to -2.5 . jo-5 cm2/sec-1 - V-1 17-

Cl. oedemations has 2 culminating points (tops). The main top of
the phospholipase-C-activit corresponds to_a protein of a high
anode-mobility - _60 - 10 _@ CM2/sec.-l . V 1 . In the range of the
zero-mobility the active protein is absent. That shows a new dif-
ferenoe of species of the phospholipase C from 01. perfringens and
Cl. oedematiens. The peculiar difference of phospholipase C of the
Moscow preparMons of the OG-toxin of Cl. perfringens from the
same enzyme of the Varshavakiy-preparations, above all may be con-
ditioned by the aging of the living culture (1B instead of 5 - 6
hours), as well as by dry preparations( more than 8 years). There
are 3 figures, 1 table, and 10 references, 4 of which are Slavic.

A modified method of Van Heyningen (BiochenD.J. 1941, 35, 1246) is pre3ented.
The modifications include: (1) constant relative concentration of substrate and
calcium; (2) stoppageof reaction by cooling to 0% and (3) spectrophotometric de-
termination of turbidity at 815 nVA. Effects of time, temperature and pH on the
action of the phospholipase on lecithin were studied. The pH optimum was found to
be 6 to 6.5. Applications of this method to the tietermination of phospholipase C of
Clostridium oedernatlens and C. perfringens were made. Tsao - Ann Arbor. Mich.

The main symptoms of one out of 3 patients admitted to hospital were agitation.
aggressivity, visual, auditory and (probably) taste hallucinations and paranoic
ideas. The 2nd patient also showed visual and auditory hallucinations, with an-
xiety, depression and a sense of weight. The 3rd patient was depressive, apathic
and not capable of fluently reading aloud. His imagination was impaired, the
memory weakened and he had anxiety dreams.
