Recording is accomplished by a field acting along the mean easy axis of magnetization and reading by a field acting along the mean hard axis of magnetization. To store analog information, the value of the field which acts along the mean hard axis must exceed the valuq ard 1/2 UDC: 681. 142.07 L 45833-66 -ACC-Nks AP6030574-- of the anisotropy field. The recording field value which corresponds to the storpci analog informatio.-, lies within the region os boundary creep and shift, while the value of the reading field lies within the region of nondestructive readout. Data from 46 observation periods were collected and graphs were. plotted of the local electron concentration as a function of time along the satellite path. It was found that local electron concentration N increased by a factor of 3@_4 at the same altitude during passage of the satellNe from night to day. For several consecutive days, ND values repeated themselves within a 20% deviation. Pinching of the upper ionosphere was noted during the transition from maximum to minimum solar activity. The calculation method is that used :Fn- earlier KosmoV studies, which is based on measur-' ing the relative Doppler shift between two r f signals --rultaneously received from the satellite. The following frequencies were used: Kosmos-11, 20.0o48 and 90.0216 mc; Elektron-1, 20.005 and 30-0075 mc; and Elektron-3, 20.005, 3:).007, and 90.022 mc. Receiving stations were widely enough separated to permit simultaneous recording of signals at high elevation and near-horizon line-of-sight angles, and therelrj measure the effect of different transmission paths through the ionosphere. The electron density profiles with altitude were determined independently at each receiving station, and agreed tolerably well. A comparison of daily and seasonal concentration profile variation is given in the figure; all three curves corresponde@ Card 1.12 UDC: 55C@.388.2:629.195.2 I L 01255-67- ACC MR, AP6032683 D Jeff 'r ArAl Fig. 1. The authors speculate on the nature of the pronounced dip in the profile, noted in the 400-500 km altitude region. They suggest that their data may indicate the existence of a previously unidentified additional ionospheric layer above the F2 layer which varies either sporadically or regularly. TITLE: Use of Hammer Mills for Cruslaing Limestone.(Primeneiiiye molotkovykh drobilok dlya izmellcheniya izvestnyaka) PERIODICAL: Metallurg, 1957, Nr 7, pp.5 - 6 (USSR) ABSTRACT: Dissatisfied with the performance of the Gipromez-desigiied rod mills installed at the Cherepovets works for 6rinding limestone for use in self-fluxing sinter production, the authors proposed thut hammer mills should be used instead. For this the ty-pe CM-19A bammer Mill previously Used for preliminary crushing of limestone was reconstructed by the works into ty-pe CM-19A-P, giving a finer product. The article gives a general outline of the modifications and tabulations of operating and cost data for the reconstructed mill, a larger himmer mill and the rod mill. The respective productivities are ?5.40 and 1? tons/tar, the energy consump- tions 4.6, 9.? and 1?.9 KWb/ton, costs 37.2, 156.3 and 165.3 thousand roubles, weights 6.5, 15.5 and 55.0 tons. From tile same s 'ize-graded feed the reconstructed hammer mill gave 4.48 and 95.5?% of 5-3 and -3 mm fractions, respectively, the Card 1/? 130-7-3/14 bse of Hammer Mills for Crus@.dng Limestone. corresponding values for the rod mill being 6.43 and 93-57%.
