The authors show that Paffenhols mistook moraine boulders for granites of the Neogen period, and therefore his conclusions were unfounded. There in no basis for re-evaluation of the Palsozoic age of the Main ridge granites and for re-consider- Card 112 ation of their metallogenetic role. Al L-11 NO V y MILA..NOVSKIY, Ye. S.N. TITLEa New Data on the Age of the Lower Carboniferous Stratum in the Central Part of North Xavkaz (North Caucasus) (Novyye dannyye o vosraste nizhnskamennougollnoy tolshchi v tsentrallnoy chasti. Severnogo Kavkaza) PERIODICALe Doklady Akadeiii Nauk SSSRp1958, Vol. 119, Nr 1, PP. 143-145 , (USSR) ABSTRACT# Ai~:'Shv Paleozoic deposits of the Great Xavkaz (Caucasus) are '.~aitClontologically ektremely little characterized, every new'dikeovery of fossil organisms attracts aitention. Data of thii kind are especially rare for the Central Kavkaz (Rofs 1,.'2p 7)- Here the problem of the age of a thick mass of volcanogenic rocks, argillaceous schists and limestones which form the Peredovoy chain between the rivers Baksan and Teberda in especially interesting. For several reasons they are considered Lower Carboniferous. The 3 series se- P&rat*d by Robinson in the year'1947 (Ref 6) as well as Card 1/3 the above-mentioned age determination are fairly weakly foundw 20-119-1-39/52 New Data on the Age*of the Lower Carboniferous Stratum in the Central Part of North Xavkaz (North Caucasus) ed. Still weaker in the subdivision of t"hese deposit a in stages bLY Robinson. Thus the data on the Lower Carboni- ferous age of this mass in the Central Xavkaz are virtually- absent. Numerous doubts remained especially with regard to the age of the volcanogenic mass, the more that under the conditions af a very complicated structure the continuity of the crone section of the 3 series was not determired. Xizovallter (Ref 3) determined the continuity of the cross section of the middle and upper series in the year.1946-47. He suggested considerable rearrangements in Robinson's scheme. The age, however, still remained determined according to the stratigraphic position. In the yeai 1955 the deposits under review were studied by the Kavkaz-expedition of the Moscow State ~hiversity wd the Moscow Geological-Prospect- ing InstituU Kizovalter's data_were confirmed and some- what detailed, and some paleontological discoveries were made. Most interesting are finds of Rugosa-corals in the carbonate mass of the Carboniferous which occurs in the divide region of the Peredovoy chain (Baksan river basin), Ca id 2/3 further-cf stromatopores and draight nautiloideas. Because 20-119-1-39/52 Now Data on the Age of the Lower Carboniferous Str&tum in the Central Part of North Kavkaz (North Caucasus) of the bad state of preservation only some corals have hitherto been determined from them, which , however, for the first time they prove the occurrence of the faunally characterin d Lower Carboniferous in this region. The mass and the found corals are briefly described and their occurrence in the upper Tournet - and lower Vis6 enphasized. The present paper is based on these correlations which are given and defined. The author then discusses the advantages - of eochaatic equations for describing random processes compared with the Einstein - Fokker equation. In the followings it is demonstrated that the time correlations of the derivatives of the generalized coordinates can be determined from the kornels of the corresponding symbolic stochastic equations, and that for their calculation the correlative properties of "random forces" need not be known. The author further succeeded in expanding the correlatica function in a Neuman-Liouville series. The practical application of the results Card 1/2 A Calculation of Time Correlations S/188/60/000/004/018/XX by Gibb's Method B006/BO67 obtained is illustrated by three example3: 1) description of a Brownian particle with a hydrodynamic aftereffect; 2) description of the spectral density of random forces of a Brownian oscillator with radiation damping; and 3) description of a fluctuation in linear electric chains. From a survey of publications (Refs 6,7) it is concluded that there is no agreement concerninC age. The authors found diamonds in the Permian ,onglomerate the sources of the Markhariver. Their age (together with th stones contained therein) could be determined certainly eno (by V. D. Korotkev~toh) a* Permian Triassic. In 1957 results obtainod by momborn of the 213th exoursion of the AmakI.,noka expedition: V. T. ::za-rov, M. N. Serebryakovap ot al. in the neighbouring districts which confirm the authors' data. Thv Prepermian, age is determined for a part of the kimberlites. kimberlites of the tube "Obnazhannayall arp breaking through dolomites of the Turkutskaya suite. In the usual eruptive I cia a belemnite roatrum, was found (Pigs 1,20. According to Card 1/2 determination of N. I. Shullgina (V. I. Bodylovskiy and G. Recent Data on the Age of the Kimberlites of the SOV120-126-6-48167 Siberian Platform Krymgoilts gave their advice) it is rather probable that th: fossil belongs to the species Pachyteuthis (?) sp. which is characteristic of the Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous. It ii impossible to determine how deeply this belemnite has droppi into the kimberlite tube. Such "drops" of xenolites were dii covered in South Africa with an unconteetable security (Ref. 899). Consequently it can be regarded as certain that a par- of the Siberian kiniberlites was formed in the pre-Upper Peri formation (apparently in Carboniferous Lower Permian),,anothi howeverp in Cr"taoeou-e.
