Abstract : Review of the literature of treatment of corneal pannus with the
subconjunctival injections of (cadaver) vitreous humor and report about 20
patients treated 1960-61; 10 to 12 injections of 0.3 to 0.5 cc. each (every
few days): little objective corneal change but pronounced improvement in
decrease of photophobia, blepharospasm, lacrymation. Corneal surface
lesions did epithelialize in 5 of the patients; however, any effects are
considered merely placebo response. One Soviet and 3 Western references.

ABSTRACT: Opponents to the neuron theory frequently try to confirm their
views about the nervous system of inferior animals. Boeke
(Buke, Ref 1) maintains having seen in the enteric nervous
system of Amphioxus on the place of the synapsis a true con-
tinuity of the living nerve substance, in particular of the
neurofibrillary substance. The synaptic conjunctions in cyclo-
stoma and selachii are said to be similarly constructed. In
most careful investigations of the Caspian lamprey (Caspiory-
zon wagneri Kess 1) the author was not able to find in his
preparations any syncytial synaptic conjunctions which would
resemble to those of Boeke. On the contrary, he succeeded in
detecting genuine pericellular apparatus that are amazingly
similar to those of other vertebrates. These apparatus in
Card 113 vegetative enteric neurons are spheric formations of various

size. They are placed below the neuron capsule and cling close-
ly to the neuron body or penetrate deeply into it. A selective
impregnation permits the neurofibrillary and the plasmic
components to be well distinguished in them (Pigs 1,2).The
neuroplaBms surrounds the neurofibrillary apparatus from all
sides and thus represents the outer boundary of the pericellu-
lar apparatus. The neuroplasm was apparently described as the
binding agent in the synaptic structures (Ramon y Cajal (Ramon-
i-Kakhnll)et al.).Figur'e 3 shows the different size and shape
of the pericellular apparatus on one and the same neuron..Up to
5 of them may be occurring on one nerve cell.They can be formed
both by axones of the local enteric neurons and by nerve fibers
of central origin. The author claims to have proved b,' , his
observations that the synaptic conjunctions in the enteric
nervous system of the lamprey are built according to the type
of a free nerve termination. It may be concluded that the
main theorems of the neuron theory are valid also for the

ABSfRACT: A device designed to measure hourly liquid flow is described. The device
consists of transducers for volumetric liquid flow, shaper and-Schmidt trigger
circuits, two gate circuits, an amplifier, a PSM-2 relay, and two solenoid switches.
Testolite measuring disks 100 am in diameter are 'fastened to the output cylinders of
the transducers. Permalloy plates (5 x 5 mm) are glued to the front faces of the
measuring disks. The device has six measuring scales marked on the cylindrical
surface of a transparent drum rotated by a DSD-2-Pl electric motor. Rotation of the
measuring disks causes distortions in a magnetic field; the distortions are processed'
by the logic circuitry and are used to change the position of the rotating *drum.
The device is capable of measuring liquid consumption rates from 250 to 20,000 1/hr
with an accuracy of O.5-lX. It. uses d-c voltages of -24, +12, -12 and 1.2 v and
60 cps, 220 v a-c voltage to power its transistorized circuits and its motor. The
