Abstract: Onae a month (up to 10 determinations) the resis-

adult patients with tuberoulous meningitis (I of
them, died) by themethod of negative pressure (ac-
cording to Hecht). A decrease of RO took place
on 2-3rd month of disease. In treatment with
phthivazide, RC decreased, increasing only 1 1/2-

ABSTRACT: In this letter to the editor the-authors write. "In the work
on the synthesis of 2,3-diphenyl-3-methTlaminopropionic acid
(Ref, 1) the intention was expressed of investigating the con-
@figuration of P-amino acids obtained from the Shiffla

thd alkali hydrolysis of the, ethyl ester of a,P-diphenyl-p-
anilinepropionic acid which was obtained from benzalaniline
anaothylphenylacetate in the presence of anhydrous aluminum
chloride (Ref,2) we previously separatel a single free
P-aniline acid with the melting point 171-1720 (1). According
to the confignration it corresponds to the initial ester
(Ref

A%TRACT: The arrangement and principle of operation of a vernier angle-to-
digital code converter designed on the principle of an electrostatic generator are
investigated. The generator consists.of a.continuously rotating rotor, a fixed stafor.,
and a movable stator which is connected to the input shaft. In the converter, the
two rotor tracks and both stators contain an equal quantity of gear teeth. In the casel
under examinationt the, number of gear teeth on the stators differs by one. A
permanent magnet is fixed on the rotor. One magnette head is mounted on each
stator. Voltages from the stator are transmitted to the short pulse shapers. From
the converter, the pulses are transmitted to the counting circuit over four channels:

ea
possible to measure an angle in a digital code. The conversion accuracy does not
i depenu on the rotational speed of rotor. There are three illustrations'and a

Title Concerning t6e Bor@l in Metallic Silver.
Orig Pub Acta phys. Acad. sci hung., 1956,-6,-No 1) 119-123
Abstract Using a model of the metal,,developed by Gombaa, the authors
calculate the energy and the lattice constant of metallic
silver. Account is taken of-the energy influence due to
the overlApping of the ions on the lattice energy. It is
shown that just as in thecase of copper, the overlapping
of the ions aj silver plays a substantial role,* and the o-
energy of the silver ions is approxLmately twice
as large as that of the copper ions. Calculations have
shovii that the -iniiw- value of the energy corresponds to
a radius of an elementary sphere R,, = 2-qqaO(aO w 0-53A)
