TITLE: X-Ray Diffraction Investigation of Carbide-Formationj-7 Processes During Tempering of Hardened Alloy Steels PERIODICAL: Fizika metallov i metallovedeniye, 1960, Vol.10, No.4, pp.622-627 TEXT: The authors state that there are divergent views on carbide-formation effects even in carbon and low-alloX steels ~1 as well as in alloy steels. They describe their-investigation of steels with various contents of carbon (0.2 to 1.0%) and alloying element (0.6 to 7.7% Cr, 1.2 to 5.5% Mn, 0.3 to 2.2%.1 Mo, 0.1 to 10.3% V and 0.6 to 18.1% W). Chromium steelalwere,l hardened from 450 to 1300, ganganese from 950, molybdenum from 1100, vanadium0and tungste from 1200-13500C. Tempering was effected at 200, 300, 4oo, 500, 600 and 68oOc. Carbide phases formed at different stages of tempering were separated electrolytically and studied by X-ray diffraction (Debye method, -hromium radiation), the powder being contained in a celluloid -- -hases found for various tempering temperatures 85047 S/i26/60/010/004/019/023 EIII/E452 X-Ray Diffraction Investigation of Carbide-Formation Processes During Tempering of Hardened Alloy Steels are shown in Tables I to 5 for chromium (types iox6 (IOKh6 T57 5Kh 0) IOX30 OLOKh3O), IOX40 (IOKh4O), IOX70 (IOKh7O), 5)c 6 4 5)(70 MhM, 2X4o (M40));\'~ manganese ( types lorl2 (1-OG12), ior2O (IOG20), l0r307MIOG30), ior5o OLOG50),,jr30 (5G30),%q 21"30 OG30);\~ molybdenum (types IOM3 ULM), ioM6 (M6) IOM12 rMOM12), IOM20 (IOM201, 6M20 (6M20)~'f~,"20 OM20,14' 2 M20 (2M20) ) ; 4 vanadium (type a 10 t 1 (UZI) ~V 10 3 T-ILOF3), 1.0#6 UOM,,410#12 (10F12 t 20 UOF20), l'O 40 (IOF40), ~J~ 1.0 5#20 OF20)1~ 24120 OF20), 0100 OF100) and tungsten (types I_O_T6 UovO iffff 11o, (fovio), 10 820 (61OV20), 10 6 40 UOV40), 10960 (10V60).-108130 CLOV130), 106180 (IOV180), 5540 OV40),rj 2()40 (2v4o) )4steels, respectively. TITLE: Luminosity of Converter Flame During the Fining of Blister Copper (0 svechenii plameni konvertera v period dovodki chernovoy medi) PERIODICAL: Byul. tsvetn. metallurgii. 1957, Nr 24, pp 20-22 ABSTRACT: A photometric study was conducted of the converter flame (by spectroscope connected to a film camera), and optical monitoring by photoelectric pyrometer with recording potent- iometer was performed, In both cases, intensity of emission was found to increase during the fining period, this being con- nected with an increase in the Cu contents of the melt. Max- imum emission of light was attained during the final 5 to 8 min. The subsequent sharp drop is apparently to be explained by the onset of Cu oxidation. 1. Flames,S)pectographic ana.lysis 2. AN SSSR, 1961, 10-25 TEXT- A sensitometric investigation of the effect of betatron radiation on different films was carried our and the radiarion intensity distribution in the ray cross-section was measured The Agfa company (GDR) Lane, Sino, Texo-R, Texo-S films and the high-sensitivity home films of factory No 8 "rentgen-X-opytnyy* and "rentgen-X-opyttjyy" with one sided glaze were investigated The sensitometric film parameters Acre investigated in direct exposition to the betatron radiation as well as in expositions behind steel plates of different thickness. The results of the investigations are discussed and exposition graphs are constructed on the basis of the scnsitometric data obtained. An example of exposition calculation is given It is shown that the most sensitive to the betatron y-radiation film is the experimental "rentgen".X with 2-sided glaze Fliert: are 13 figures. The photometer contains light sources, a luminescent screen, and light filters for the ultraviolet range of the spectrum (see Fig. 1). To increase the intensity of the working stream, spectrozonal mirrors with a high coefficient of reflection are placed in the stream to separate the ranges ot 240--280 m/A, 280--330 m,", and 330-400 m/A. To obtain films with a given composition and thickness, the film is deposited on the substrate successively from each of the cathodes, which are insulated from one another. The deposition'time under each cathode depends on the required thickness of a porous layer from the component of a correspondi ng cathode. The following is among dissertations of the Leningrad Folytechmic Institute imeni Kalinin: "Theoretical and Experimental Investi ation of the Differential Protection of Transformers, with Building-Up Against Impact Currents of Magnetization." 3 January 19h8. An examination was made of the problem of determining the magnitude of the impact current of magneti- zation of power transformers and of magnetizing currents of current transformers. A theoretical and experimental investigation is madp of one of the most perfect systems of the blocking of the differential protection, viz.j the system of blocking with rectified current. A procedure is developed for calculating the elements of the blocking system with rec- tified current and a design solution is given.
