ABSTRACT: In the course of a thorough analysis of the alloy of silicon with
copper (which iras already previously described) the authors, among
other things, found that the alloy contained 50% silicon, 49% oop-
per, and 0.4% aluminum. Also silicon alloys were investigated which
contained also other metals such as chromium, manganese, and molyb-
denum. In other cases (with the exception of nickel and copper nega-
tive results were obtained. From the result of the synthesis @see
table) it may be seen that the silicon-niakel alloy is more active
(when vinylchloizsilanes are obtained by direct synthesis). It was
further shown that the silioon-nickel alloy (nickel content 15%)
card 1/2 must be considered to be the most suitable. There are 1 table, and

and K.I. Perimll, Zdravoo?hraiieniye Belorussii, No 3, March -PP-
59.
The results achieved by advanced courses for sanitary physicians,
established in the Belorussian SSR in 19.1@2 are discussed by the authors.
These annual advanced claeses in preventive sanitary control had to
be attended not only by district and municipal physicians but also by
the physicians of sanitary-epidamiological stations of the are-i. The
article concludes that thesc classes bave been very valuable, because
they increase the Imowledge and experience of sanitary physicians.
The papers they are supposed to read in ouch classes also stimulate
their efforts to broadon Oicir scientific activition.

Orig Pub Selektsiya i semenovodstvo, 1957, No 2, 47-48
Abstract The Severyanin variety (am improved Pechorskiy) was obtalvaed
by the Syslo'skiy Variety Division (Komi ASSR) through ci-os-
sing the Pechorskiy wild clover @wtith Permskiy and Yaroslavskiy
clover and subsequent mass selection in combination with
directional raising. The Severyanin is characteri!@ed by tall
plan-%'s (70-95 cm), pronounced bushiness and uniform foliage.
ite yield of hay under the conditions of Komi ASSR on a 101
year average was 5-7 centaers per hectare greater than iaat of
the other variaties of the clovers, assigned to specff'-c
rayons.
