Abstract: General considerations concerning the cauzes producing
intercrys'allite! corrosion (IC) in joint zones of
steels of t!ie 18-8 type and in the same steels allcyed with
1-5 to 2.5% of Mo. The part of the heating at 6500 is
noted. It is pointed out that the disposition to IC is

ABST-UNCT: The load capaci of a steel structure is analyzed fron three different I
points of view, using three different methods of computation. The follmrLnp, lim- I

under conditions which lead to brittle fracture; and in the third, load

ABSTRACT: In ship power- plants, consisting (if a diesel motor, a gearbox, a hne
shaft, and a propeller-, it is usually necessary to examine three types of torsional
v-,bration. While the first two types of oscillation are determined mainly by Ithe
fly-~,%-heel-gearbox-prc)pelle,r system, thc- third ype is determined by the sys,1--fri (5
the enaine itself. It is useful to separate dynamically the system of the engine
from the rest of the aggregate by using an app:-opriate elastic coupling. Wiien
usirig an elastic coupling with a linear characteristic curve, it is often necEssary

to prohibit the operation at a certain speed range of the engine. Operational safety
can best be served, theoretically, by using an elastic coupling with a progressIVE:
characteristic curve which is matched to the characteristic curve of the propeller.
Such a coupling is difficult to realize. The demands can be met, however, by using
an elastic coupling with a broken characteristic curve, whose initial torsion rigid-
ity is much lower than its ultimate torsion rigidity. The Czechoslovak analogue
computer MEDA was used to determine the beEt torsional v-ibration and the optimal
parameters for the coupling. It was proven that the use of an elastic coupling with
broken characteristic curve is of advantage in the case of marine power plants

TITLE: Combination of varnish coatings with a (sprayed-on)
chemically reduced silver layer

TEXT: The classical method of reduction of silver coatings
from silver nitrate by means of formaldehyde can also be effected
by spraying by means of a two-nozzle spray-gun. Reduction of the
silver takes place on the activated surface of the hody
immediately after impingement of the finely atomized solutions.
The formed coating is about 3 1~L thick, non-porous and adheres
strongly to metal, glass and organic materials. To prevent
pumping, a transparent varnish is provided on top of' the silver
coating. This method in parttcularly favourable in the timber
industry (as a substitute for imported metal foils) and for
treatment of small size consumer goods.
