ABSTRACT: Nikolay Nikolayevich Vasillyev began his career in 1914, after
having completed his studies at the Petrogradakiy politekh-
nichaskiy institut (Petrograd Polytechnic Institute), as head
of the electric workshop of the Central Workshop of the South-
-Western Railroad in Kiyev. From 1927 to 1930 he also taught
at th Ki vskiy politekhnichaskiy institut (Kiyev Polytechnic
Institute . In 1930 he was appointed Docent in ordinary and in
1931 Professor at the Chair of Electrical Machines at the same
Institute. In 1937 he was appointed head of the newly estab-
lished Chair for the Electrification of Industrial Enterprises.
He installed a laboratory with this chair. During the second
world war he was evaouated to Tashkent with the entire Inati-
tute. After his return he kept the same chair. He wrote more

strengthen the relations between the chair and industry. He
was awarded the Lenin Order, the Order of the Red Banner of
Labor and the medal "For Heroic Work in the Great Patriotic

ABSTRACTs The authors studied the individual and combined effects of
vibration# acceleration, and ionizing radiation an nice*, Cate. guinea

days after exposure. CarulopLasmin activity was generally unchanged
in most ~Srkitxals'exposed to vibration, except for one group expos-
ed to 30 cps for I hr. In this group, serotanin activity increased
by a factor of 4 compared to the control level. In the second me-
Iries.mice were subjected to 10- and 30-g accelerations for 5 and
30 min. A 10-g acceleration for 5 min produced a lowered serotanin
content 2 hr after exposure. The decrease lasted up to six days af-
ter exposure at a level ILZ lower Chan in control animals. Upon ex-
posuce to 10 g for 30 min, sarotoatn content was not lowered until the
6th day. Geruloplasmin activity w&s.cut in half during the first
Z hr after exposure and returned to normal levels 4 hr later. One to
six days afterwards. activity was Z.S-4 times greater than in the
control group. Sxposure to 30 g for 5 min produced,these same of-
