TEXT: A method of magneto:netric determination of the remanent
of a ferromagnetic rod is described. The deviation of the mag-netomete-,
the magnetization of the specimen, can be balanced by a deviation proc-It,p','
standard coil traversed by a current. I t i s shown that the s tanda rd r , g !-
have the length of the specimen, the resulL being independent of the , r
of the standard coil and of the number of Its wrTIS.

TITLE: The Communism and AutomationlA
PERIODICA.L: Stii-ntA ~i Tehnica, Seria a II-a, 1960, Nr 3,
pp 26-27
ABSTRACT: The author describes briefly the progress of automa-
tion. and work productivity in the sotialist countries.
Complex automation and mechanization has been introduced
in the USSR, such as automation of the mechanical en-
gineering industry, non-ferrous metallurgy, chemical
and power industry, light industry, C. For the pe-
riod 1959-1960 the Soviet ?-Year D1 anticipates
the construction of approx 1,300 automated production
linp-difor machine tools. The production of apparatus
and automation devices will increase by more than 2.6
times. Of this figure a 4.7-time increase will be
in the production of calculating machines. More than

will also be designed. Reference is made to the com-
pletely automated Soviet plant for the production of
pistons for internal combustion engines and to the
Metallurgical Combinat in Magnitogorsk which has a
rolling mill assembled on a 5-hectare area. An
automated production line is being assembled at the
Small Car Plant in Moscow. 3,000 instruments and
electrical devices are attached to this line, which
carries out 26 principal operations for the pro-
duction of motor casings. In 1960 the USSR will
introduce the 7-hour working laitfor workers and
employees and the 6-hour working day for the coal
and mining industry workers. Automation is also
in progress in Rumania, e.g. in the new blast fur-
naces and the steel plant in Hunedoo-ra; in Lamino-
rul de Tevi (Tube Rolling Mill) in Roman, in the
